I am completely opposed to the proposition evidently being offered on this thread that the media omit the FACT that this man was born in the U.S. (Texas) and did in fact live in Virginia.
It is completely appropriate that that information be given. It is very clear from his name and trip after 9/11 to join al Qaeda what he was up to.
Of COURSE it's clear what he was up to. I don't want the media to omit the fact. I would like them to stop stressing it in every paragraph of every article. It's being used as a keyphrase to obscure any other facts which come to light later in the case. I can only speak for myself, though.
Lets ask this question to the MSM:
Which of these is a more important fact to this story:
1) Former HS Valedictorian plots to kill president.
2) American Muslim goes to Saudi Arabia, joins Al Qaeda and plots to kill president.
Obviously, #2 is much more relevant to the story. I bet if the guy had won a spelling bee in 4th grade and not been valedictorian we would be hearing "ex-spelling bee champion plots to kill Bush".
It seems to me that most of the rhetoric here has to do with MSM omitting the fact that the man is Islamic. I don't see a lot of proposing to omit the rest of the story.
