Please pray for my 17 year old daughter's safety, that the Lord is watching over her and protecting her from harm. I just filed a missing persons report with the Columbus Police Department about an hour ago, when it became apparent that I was not going to get the usual call from her letting me know where she was.
I left for work at 10:45 am and the last thing she said was that she was going to get her hair cut. No e-mail, no phone calls to me throughout the course of the day, which struck me as odd, because we hadn't had any harsh words and life seemed to be great. I got off work at 9 pm and she wasn't home, which isn't unusual because she spends alot of time with Young Life. Hours passed, no phone call. By 2 I was nearly hysterical with worry. I have left messages on her friends' cell phones hoping for a call back. I am sorry to say that I was not able to give the officer a description of what she was wearing, only a picture.
This is SO out of character for this young lady. She's always been the responsible one, even though she has been suffering from Senior-itis this year and has tested the boundaries to the limit. I am so frightened thinking of the possibilities here that I don't know where to turn, and I would appreciate your prayers tonight. I am hoping that perhaps she told me she'd be sleeping over tonight at a friend's house, but I have racked my brain, and frankly, I just don't remember any conversation like that taking place. (I haven't had a day off in 3 weeks.)
When this is all over with you need to have a serious talk with the police chief. The police may see this all the time, but parents dont. Their callous attitude needs to be called on the carpet.
I am praying for your daughters safe return home and asking Jesus to give you some comfort.
Prayers for your daughter's safe return......and prayers and a heartfelt hug from this mom to you.
No answer at Thomas Hurley's residence but I left a voicemail for a call back to let me know if he is the one I need to speak with. Surely he'll know of this Tree House if it's him. The 2 gals that live there are members of the OSU Marching Band.
You've got a friend in Japan my dear ...As soon as I lay me down to sleep heeps of prayers will be made ...
"Conversion of trust" means you trusted your daughter with the car, but she betrayed your trust, I think. (Not that I'm a lawyer.)
Do you know a lawyer in your area who will tell you if you HAVE to file charges against your daughter if it turns out she's just acting irresponsibly?
So far as the speculation part goes, I think I'd rather be safe than sorry, although I'm sure the chief is correct about that sort of thing happening frequently.
I would report the car stolen.
Where and how old is your other daughter? Are you sure she knows nothing?
And is their father in the picture? If he lives elsewhere, could your daughter have gone there?
Their father has been deceased since they were 3 and 5. That's what I took "conversion of trust" to mean too. I suspect that the cop just didn't want to deal with me. The problem is, if I report the car stolen, and it turns out that it's not, I don't want something like this on her police record. I'm looking for a lawyer I can call at 9:30 am on a Sunday so I can inquire. It's saddens me that they would look harder for a stolen car than a missing child, but that's how I feel right now.
Thomas Hurley just called me back from church and said that he has started a call chain based on who the group leaders might be for Christina's H.S. He couldn't give me phone numbers but promised me that someone would call me back as soon as they knew something.
I don't think it is a good idea to report it stolen if it wasn't. They already know it wasn't stolen and they aren't going to look any harder for your daughter. And she would face charges when you find her or you would face charges for filing a false report.
Try the local media. Maybe you could get someone to listen and put her picture up. They don't have to wait until the police start searching. They do human interest stories all the time.
Are the police waiting 3 days? That is such a stupid law. I would go to the media and tell them about her life. If you can convince someone at the media that she didn't run away, you have a better chance of getting her story out.
I just started reading this thread, so I might have missed something. How about "young Life"? Have any of her friends there been contacted. Take her picture and show it around. anyplace you think she may have been. The mall, etc.
Good morning, friend. More prayers to you.
Have you had any contact with her boyfriend and his family yet?
Working on Young Life as we speak. Unfortunately, I don't have the last names of the 2 group leaders at the Tree House OR their phone numbers. But you can bet I will after today!
I called them again around 8 am, still no answer. They may be visiting him at Pitt. No sign of Christina's car at their house though. I'm going to call my boss and let him know I won't be in and then take a shower. Hopefully she'll show up in the meantime.

This is very odd. Must be awful for you. Prayers, prayers, prayers.
I Pray in agreement and accord for the safe return of Sunshine's daughter.
*hugs to you* Keep us posted. . .
*bumping*
I hope this turns out well for you...please keep us informed.
Hey, Sunshine...prayers for Christina and for you right now. May the Lord protect her and keep her from harm. Do you have a picture of Christina you might post which can be used for a type of "internet missing persons flyer"?
I'll be praying for you too. I suspect sleep is out of the question, but can I remind you to try to eat and or at least drink water? This is serious stress, and you can't let yourself get too run down. Try your hardest to care for yourself during this time.
I wish I could come over and make you a sandwich.
