I think this lady is getting a little bit of a bum rap-
She was terrified by someone delivering cookies at 10:30 (at night) who did not reply when she asked who it was.

So far that seems reasonable behavior.

She then became physically ill and incurred medical bills- this is a little far-fetched, maybe but she could be legit.

She admits the girls is usually nice and she did not think she meant to cause harm... but who pays her out of pocket expenses?

I dont think I would have SUED though (didnt the girls offer to settle first?) But to have people call and give death threats? thats stupid..

I agree. I dont see what the big deal is. Filing a suit may seem extreme to some. But then again, courts allow people to settle their disputes in a civil manner as opposed to "street justice."

My 86 year old mother answers the door after dark with a .357 in her hand and you had best have a good reason to be there at that time of night, but afraid?

Being afraid or unequipped to answer the door that way is unreasonable and incompetent.
