Would you pay the bill if you were in their situation?
Actually, yes. And I would have taken my children there personally to apologize.
I would never make my children apologize for an act of kindness, unless they were irresponsible in the act. I forcefully disagree with the notion that they acted in any way irresponsibly. The vision of America that I have always known and will defend is not one where you can be sued for stepping on a neighbor's porch and knocking on the door when there apparently was no sign indicating that visitors weren't welcome. Maybe its a "Mayberry-esque" visiion of community, but hey... I'm from North Carolina. Apparently Mrs. Young's vision of America is much like yours. That is your right to maintain that vision of America. Suit yourself.

"Would you pay the bill if you were in their situation? Actually, yes. And I would have taken my children there personally to apologize." OK, BushisTheMan - I've read most all of the posts and news stories, and read your responses, and I still don't get WHY you would punish the girls IF they were your daughters. WHAT exactly did they do wrong? Help me out on this one, please.
