You need to be careful no matter where you live, so this argument of "you must be careful because you live in the country" in bunk.
I live in a condensed city area. I think I have more reason to fear for criminals and trespassers than country folk do.
My grandparents live on a farm in rural Iowa. The closest neighbor is at least a mile away. They don't get spooked when they hear a knock on the door. They have had knocks on the door late at night because neighbors/friends needed help. Not once did they sue.
OK, BushisTheMan - I've read most all of the posts and news stories, and read your responses, and I still don't get WHY you would punish the girls IF they were your daughters. WHAT exactly did they do wrong? Help me out on this one, please.

I'm not putting words in the mouth of anyone. I do believe that SOME folks around here will shoot anything that moves. I think its incredibly sad that people think the girls aren't lucky they weren't shot for knocking on someone's door.

ANY attorney worth his salt would have advised the girls' parents not to pay a dime unless the Youngs signed off on coming back for second or third helpings.
If you were dealing with somebody weird enough to be suing you for a cookie delivery I'm quite sure, as evidenced by your posts, that you'd be silly enough to cough up without a second thought.
And those that attack her and her family trump her in spades.
In case you missed it, that means whatever you just called her is what you are ten times over.
The vitriol against that family is insane.
It is one thing to be against frivolous lawsuits and such, but look at the posts and listen to those who call her a harpy and a bitch.

Interesting. I went back over my posts, and I attacked no one for a point of view. In fact, I didn't attack anyone at all. I just suggested that there were some who need to chill, as you are suggesting to me. But thanks for your concern. :)
