The carrot-chomping smart aleck is making a comeback - as a futuristic, slimmed-down superhero.
The extreme makeover also revamps Bugs' buddies Daffy Duck, Road Runner, Tasmanian Devil and Wile E. Coyote in an attempt to charm young audiences with old favorites. But the changes have Looney Tunes fans hopping mad.
When the Cartoon network does their "June Bugs" thingy every summer, they leave out about 20 Bugs cartoons made during WW2 because of "racially insensitive" portrayals of the Japanese.
I've see n the censored ones. yeah, the Japs are portrayed as bucktoothed coke-bottle-glasses wearing shorties. So what?
The Japanese still sell Darkie Toothpaste with a Stepinfetchit caracature of a Black man on the tube. Turnabout's fair play.
And to this day they have yet to apologize for Pearl Harbor, The Rape of Nanking, chemical and bioweapon attacks in Manchuria, mistreatment of allied POWS, etc. Yet they have the crust to whine about Hiroshima and Nagasaki.....
AJ,
Can't we buy the original, un-PC versions of these WB classics somewhere?
Yep, they're all out in multivolume sets on DVD. Try Borders.
A very "SICK" thing to do. WB should be ashamed.
What would Mel Blanc, Tex Avery, Chuck Jones, and Friz Freeling think of this new rabbit that looks like it came from some Japanese anime action cartoon?
While channel surfing news before work this morning, a came across this story. It had a sound bite with a little girl who looked at the picture and said "He's evil". That about sums it up.
Its called 'If you can't draw, fake it.".
He was already a smart ass, now they have given him the edgy punk badd ass look we have all come to loathe about current examples for children.
I think Mel Blanc would say:
deba deba deba that's all folks.

(I have that on a AVI file...heheheheh).

"Why are we copying Japan? Aren't they supposed to copy us!?"
So many new American cartoons are pathetic rip-offs of bad Japanese cartoons. The art sucks. Every character is all pointy and/or Anime looking. No wonder kids love Sponge-Bob so much. He is pretty much the only one drawn worth a crap.
The difference is, Bugs and Company were not really drawn for kids. They were shown at theaters to a mostly adult audience. How many people in here can hear the "Barber of Seville" with out singing to themselves.."Kill da wabbit, KILL DA WABBIT!"?
Looks like Canseco injected him with steroids.
"Did some googleing.... the thing on the right.... its not bugs its Buzz.... BuzzBunny....."
That's right. I heard the story on the radio this morning and they said he's not only getting a new look, but will be given a name change as well.
I do believe the correct Looney Tunes pronunciation is: De-thpic-able.
I can, because "Kill the wabbit" was sung to "Ride of the Valkyries".
Thank You
I didn't have a clue how that should be spelled.
Looks like he could use some carrots

I have the first volume that was released. You can check it out here. It's an amazing set. All of the shorts are uncut. Many of my favorite shorts are on there, including two with the "Gossamer" red hairy monster, Beaky Buzzard ("Bugs Bunny Gets the Boid"), and two with Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner. The first disc is nothing but Bugs Bunny, the second is Daffy Duck and Porky Pig, and the third and fourth feature various characters, including Pepe Le Pew and Speedy Gonzales. I remember saying to someone when I was still a kid, "I don't think I'll ever get sick of these cartoons," and I think I was right, now that I am 24.
Speaking of Beaky Buzzard and "Gossamer," here's a page that features some of the "minor" characters in Looney Tunes. Minor Characters
