"On the West Coast, the must-go place in my memory is the Hitching Post, recently made famous in the movie Sideways, but it's been an institution for something like 100 years in its original location in Casmalia."

Man its a small world...been there done that multiple times, while out at Vandenburg. Nice country...the central cost.

Its a local legend. My first time out...was designated driver and it was very heavy fog...couldnt find the place!

Yep, small world! I was playing spaceman at Vandenburg too, when not scarfing HP steaks.

If you're ever out that way again, make sure to hit Jocko's in Nipomo (assuming you haven't yet) - ignore the menu, order the giant grilled porkchops with apple sauce. Like none you've ever had before, or since.

Oooooh, and lookee here! Like somebody was thinking of us just now. Here I am, sitting in my own restaurant, wanting an HP steak or Jocko's chop like crazy. The Far Western and McClintock's were great, too. Wish I had a big ol' bowl of Santa Maria beans right now. And a tri-tip. Sigh. I wonder if there are any flights in there this late at night?

What the hell was this thread about, again?
