The "Peanut" will be a fantastic ship. As we keep these new plank-owners in our prayers, let us hope they can dignify this ship with espirt de corps.

In related news: The recently deployed USS Jimmy Carter is scheduled to be surrendered to Panama in the year 2030. It's expected the management of the vessel will be contracted to the Chinese some time later.

That was my very first thought when I saw that headline. An ATTACK submarine?

When I think of Jimmy Carter I think of the pacifist to end all pacifists. He was pushed around by Iran, he was pushed around by Castro, he was pushed around by girl scouts that came to his door to sell cookies I bet.

I would be ashamed to serve on a ship that had that morons name attached to it.

Proud to be a former ground pounder because it's not a good day to be a squid. My condolences to all of our proud men and women in the US Navy.

I guess it is fitting that our tax dollars are being spent on something that sinks AND is named after Jimmy Carter. The primary weapon load is probably spitballs.

Actually Jimmy Carter had a pretty amazing Naval Career, once risking his life to save the submarine he was on from certain disaster. To bad he moved-on into politics after that.
Still, If I was a sailor on this boat I would be embarrassed to be seen at the local watering-hole that the base sailors and Marines hangout at with a U.U.S. Carter patch on my sleeve.

In a perfect universe, the crew would unanimously agree that at the earliest opportunity, they would scuttle the boat, open the hatches, and send it to Davey Jones's locker.

Better to waste billions of dollars than to bring further disgrace to America by sailing a boat with the name of a coward and traitor.

Attack Submarine Jimmy Carter

So what's the deal, are we going Ship it to North Korea, Arm it with Nuclear Weapons, and then let it float around and attack America everytime a Republican is in the White House?

Now with five posts (and counting) about a great U.S. war ship, named after that puke Carter, can we have a respite please? ;)

You notice, that unlike FDR, Kennedy, Ike, Teddy Roosevelt, Lincoln, Washington, Truman, Reagan, and Bush, Carter doesn't rate an aircraft carrier. They named a ship after him that will remain hidden beneath the waves.
