You should find another church. Any minister that thinks Jimmah was a great president is too stupid to properly understand scripture.
On doctrinal, scriptural, and other items within the perview of church matters I don't have a great problem with the minister and his views. I've just chalked it up to the fact that nobody (including in spades myself) is perfect. But I have expressed the same opinion that you stated to my wife and friends in the church, namely do we want to take religious guidance from someone who is demonstrably (at least in one area) a flaming moron.
It's an evolving issue, but at least lately he's lightened up quite a bit on including anything political in his sermons or other comments. I have an expressive face and when angry I tend to look like someone about to go postal. It's genetic. My dad had the same "problem", although in his case he had the history to back it up. Maybe, especially before November 2, his seeing me sitting in front of the pulpit with a couple veins and muscle groups rhythmically flexing gave him pause.
I do have to confess, sinful though it may be, to enjoying having the "you really don't want to f*** with that guy" effect on certain individuals.
