I agree with his opinion. Don't you?

I am not going to get into what I agree with or not regarding homosexuality because, quite frankly, from your posts, you're not somebody whose opinion I'd be interested in hearing.

That being said, as for this:

He was asked (baited into it, really, by a gay activist with an agenda) a question about Cheney qua lesbian. He stated his honest opinion that lesbianism is hedonistic.

Do you not understand that at that very moment he was asked that question whether it was baiting or not (leaving aside how stupid he was to take the bait), he KNEW that his OWN daughter was a lesbian and that rather than do the right thing -- keep his mouth shut and cast no stones -- he took the opportunity to make POLITICAL POINTS on Mary Cheney's back, while not bothering to expose his own vulnerability at the same time?

That one second in time proved what Alan Keyes is about; and he is a hyporcrite.

He was asked a question. He didn't dodge it. He gave his answer. You called him a hypocrite. Do you contend he lied in giving his answer?

I condemn the remarks Keyes made on that occasion. To have allowed himself to be interviewed by that radio station was sheer and utter stupidity and a complete lack of wisdom. Furthermore, I abhor the extreme rhetoric and self-righteous tone Keyes sometimes uses when he publicly discusses these topics.

However, the remarks to which you refer, were more the result of neglecting to think before he spoke. I would not characterize that momentary lack of judgment, as harshly as yourself. When so doing, you sound as bitterly judgmental and self-righteous as Keyes sometimes does.

The context of that whole controversy changed when Maya Keyes went public (and Keyes' reps here refused to confirm or deny her sexual preference). In light of what we now know, he really should have said something like, "I wouldn't personalize it like that, but I stand by my position."
