Initiation.

"No, it doesn't sound like robbery. Sounds like black members/converts of TROP."
If that is in fact the case, we will never know because they will suppress that information. Just look at NJ>

New Rochelle ain't Upstate NY! ...Or is it? Syracuse, Utica, Rochester, Auburn--that's Upstate NY. I always thought New Rochelle was Downstate or NYC Area.

You discount the reporting that one black male is in custody and the mall and surrounding is in lockdown?
I've seen "three Arab terrorists locked in an airliner bathroom shaving themselves" turn into "One Indian Gas Station Owner shaving his face in an airliner bathroom before landing" before, so I still consider every single fact about this incident completely suspect.

Any new information we get, we'll let you know, Barry (my daughters best friend cousin's boyfriend- oh dear, that was a mouthful) said that the gun was a handgun, thats all I've heard so far, and that it happened around 3:15.

Maybe not. But consider the scenario, gunmen apparently randomly shooting people at a mall. What would the benefit be to gangstas to shoot up the mall? None.
The experience here in the Hampton Roads area is that few if any of the gang bangers know anything more about firearms than (possibly) from which end the bullet exits. Most of the shootouts result in bystanders being hit, and not the intended targets.

such an attack by islamic terrorists on a middle of america type of mall was a scenario in a recent TomClancy book. Can't recall the title right now. Something like the "eye of the tiger".
To: tabor
I used to live in Accord and I shopped at this mall all the time.
This is really creepy!

That's why some of us carry things that have more than five or six rounds. I'm partial to 17+1 and reloads, personally. Nothing wrong with that! But six will do for me... if they're the right six....

"Why would a robber randomly start shooting upon entry?"
Probably not in that scenario (into the mall), but I think the exact events are a little sketchy.

Remember the DC shootings? We later found out they knew it was two Black men but they wouldn't release that information, which MAY have saved lives if they'd given a more full description.

Agree. There really isn't enough info at this point to come any conclusion.
To: Sender
I agree with you. What kind of motive can three men have for starting off shooting as soon as they enter? You're not exactly going to sneak away. You're going to create a panic that may not help when you want to gather up the jewelry. You're drawing attention that will lead to what we have now, a lock down, a SWAT team, etc.

What would the benefit be to gangstas to shoot up the mall? None. They would suffer greatly for no benefit. Drug dealers? Hardly. What result could come other than a harsh crackdown on them? Robbers? They didn't even enter the stores. Also consider that the likely survivability of such a mall shooting is very low for the shooters, ie a suicide mission. If anyone has any reasonable theory as to why people would do such a thing other than Islam, let's hear it.
What you said makes sense. These guys were not robbers and it doesn't seem to be a gang retaliation since they randomly shot people.
