Two weeks ago, a judge ruled in one of the city's four lawsuits against online sellers that the city can file a revised racketeering lawsuit against Internet cigarette sellers. The ruling was the first time a federal judge has indicated that Internet sellers can be charged under federal racketeering law, said Eric Proshansky, the city's chief lawyer on the case.Do you have a link or a cite for this decision?
Also, is there a federal law that allows the states to interfere with interstate tobacco commerce?
It turned me into a girl!
If you favor leeches and maggots, I rest my case.
I have worked out more annual budgets than I care to recall - but NEVER based them on ONE aspect of projected revenues. Which is what balancing state budgets by increasing tobacco taxes does.
I won't be attending CPAC this year. Based upon my projections for my 2005 budget, I had to choose between CPAC and the FReeper Ball.............I chose the Ball. I could not justify relying on a posibility of an infusion of cash to cover my expenses.
Profound statement.
Your enlightening statement has convinced me that you must be a PhD or even higher, say a government drone?
Yes, there are two sides. Nicotine addiction and common sense. Oh, and we mustn't forget libertarian extremists, who side with the addicts.
Hey, worse things could happen!
Okay, now I've been called someone who belongs on DU, a liberal, and someone whose mother didn't love her enough--but government drone? I'm going to hit the abuse button if this continues.
You never had a case to rest.
EG - you're a pistol!!!!!
My life is a bad hair day!!! just kidding - I love my life.
We're in the midst of renovating/remodelling our house and my life has totally revolved around the kitchen for the past 2 days - and most of it has had nothing to do with cooking!!!
Have you experienced enough of either of these to understand them?
Sorry you won't be coming back.
What evidence do you have for calling him "closet boy"? LOL
Naw, I'm not. It's in my pocket, however it's happy to see you Gabz! ; ~ >
LoL!
N.Y. Suit Against Internet Cigarette Sellers Dismissed, but City Can Refile
Also, is there a federal law that allows the states to interfere with interstate tobacco commerce?
To the best of my knowledge, no. NYC is trying to make their OWN laws regarding Internet sale of cigarettes.
It's an idiomatic expression. It means your last statement makes you look like the idiot I thought you were.
tick....tick...tick....
Can I stop biting my nails?
Oh pluuuuse. There aren't many of us that have had to witness that. And you have, I am sorry. But you haven't and are using that old garbage to scare us, pity you!
Yes, there are two sides. Nicotine addiction and common sense. Oh, and we mustn't forget libertarian extremists, who side with the addicts.
Addiction. Ah! Addiction to a legal commodity. Who would have thunk it.
And how about 55 million smokers in the US that just plain ole love to smoke for their enjoyment. Oh yes! What do YOU do for relaxation? Booze or prescription drugs. Common. Fess up now!
WHO won't be coming back????? GABZ???????
