That a person that professes to be Christian would even concern themself about the shroud or speculation on Jesus' appearance implies a "Christian" that is out of touch with the message of the very Christ they profess to follow.
No, you get it wrong -- its not to make the shroud the center of worship but as a sense of wonderment. Come on, what's wrong with speculating? We will never REALLY know what God looks like until we meet Him, but that won't stop human nature. I see no reason to doubt the Christianity of the person who enquires about the shroud. If they make it the sole reason for their faith, then the accusation is justified, otherwise, no.

I agree. However, it is not verifyable, it is a waste of time at best, and something that can lead both believers as well as unbelievers away from God at worst.
