EASON JORDAN JUST RESIGNED
Top CNN exec resigning over Davos remarks By Carolyn Pritchard CBS MarketWatch Last Updated: 6:40 PM ET Feb 11, 2005 SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- CNN's top news executive, Eason Jordan, said Friday he's resigning amid controversy over his assertion that journalists were targeted and killed by coaltion forces in Iraq. "After 23 years at CNN, I have decided to resign in an effort to prevent CNN from being unfairly tarnished by the controversy over conflicting accounts of my recent remarks regarding the alarming number of journalists killed in Iraq," he said in a note to CNN staff. CNN is a unit of Time Warner (TWX: News, Quote) .

Another one bites the dust!!!
Was he involved in the Tailwind scandal?
lmao
It's Friday: A good day to quit, if even Howie Kurtz's damage control efforts haven't been enough to save you. ...
hey Kos, we are over here now....
enjoy.
Kurtz has prolly already taped his show.
I hope he has to do it over...serves him right.
Disturbing, but I'm not surprised.
Thanks for the good news ping!! I breezed thru the posts so I take it this is not confirmed yet, but looks pretty good?
Anyway if true, chalk another up for the good guys. It's so heartening to see that we no longer have to idly sit by and watch the LSM destroy America, we really do have a voice only now its much more potent and tangible.
RELEASE THE TAPE!
Clearly he wasn't misquoted or he would have just clarified it and everyone would have moved on. Since he decided not to, I'd have to assume that what the bloggers reported was true and Eason Jordan is in the business of spreading unsubstantiated lies about the American military.
Makes you wonder what other lies CNN tells their viewers.
RELEASE THE TAPE!!!
******
"I never meant to imply U.S. forces acted with ill intent when U.S. forces accidentally killed journalists, and I apologize to anyone who thought I said or believed otherwise," Jordan said in a memo to fellow staff members at CNN.
But the damage had been done, compounded by the fact that no transcript of his actual remarks has turned up. There was an online petition calling on CNN to find a transcript, and fire Jordan if he said the military had intentionally killed journalists.

sounds great....I"m in the Bay Area in Walnut Creek which is east and over the hills from Oakland and SF......relatively moderate around here and very green too. I loved it down there, lived up the hill from the stadium and in Hotel Circle but had great friends in Del Mar, Escondido, Rancho Bernardo, and many in Leucadia......great fun was had by all........I was down there in my early 20s in in 1981-5.....I know it has changed alot....I was there when they just were turning the Gas Lamp Quarter into something special........
Maybe that's where we'll finally see the tape! /sarcasm

I wouldn't too malicious. There's a lot worse out there in the MSM than Kurtz. Besides, it'll be fun seeing Kurtz cover this story on CNN's very own Reliable Sources.
" conflicting accounts of my recent remarks "
That is the sound of meaningless spinning crap hitting the fan.
Ok, so the Right takes out Eason Jordan and Dan Rather, and the LEft gets Jeff Gannon and NCPAC? Not too shabby, in my book ;0)
I think Kurtz had actually been doing some decent reporting lately.....not on this story, but others that exposed the Dems....
The message of the FReepers we are refining
We'd gotten Danny Rather and he's still whining
On all their propaganda, the light we're shining
And now even Eason Jordan has been resigning
And I tell you over and over and over again my friend
