Exactly. The overwhelming majority of American AIDS cases involve heavy drug use which itself is immunosuppresive.

Must be a new strain... meth shouldn't severely (to my knowledge) compromise the immune system (if so, the MHC would not have processed the antigens & the individual would not have tested + for the virus).

Evidentally same enough that the diagnostics pick it up, yet different enough that theraputics don't work.

It's all a matter of time anyway... HIV is notorious for "developing" drug-resistance.

Moral of the story: best not get caught with one's pants down (yech!!!)

Yea know i was thinking that too.. how do we know a virus doesnt morph with certian drugs? Crystal Meth could do wonders for your average virii growth.
