“This is a Pro-Life Country” says US Senator Sam Brownback

WASHINGTON, DC, February 11, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A very upbeat Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas spoke with LifeSiteNews.com at the March for Life a few weeks ago saying of the United States, it “is established that this is a pro-life country.”

The Republican Senator has been a strong voice for the pro-life movement in the Senate usually at the forefront of pro-life legislation.

Amidst the crowd of over 100,000, Senator Brownback’s assessment of the event reflected the crowd’s enthusiasm. “I’m doing great, it’s a little cold but everybody’s fired up for life,” he said.

Not only was he positive about the march, but also about the pro-life battle in the United Sates. “It’s going really well,” he said. “The president has mentioned and Abraham Lincoln has stated that America moves by establishing a common thought. And that’s now been moving forward and is established that this is a pro-life country, a majority pro-life.”

With the recent re-election of President Bush and the influx of pro-lifers into the Senate, there is much to be thankful for and positive about.

Despite some uncertainties about the pro-life convictions of the US Senate leadership, Senator Brownback was convinced that pro-life legislation would be moved forward. But most importantly, Brownback was convinced that the Senate would confirm President Bush’s pro-life judicial appointments.

“I think we’re going to be able to move forward pro-life judges,” he said. Acknowledging that there would be a fight, he added, “That’s the real big battle that looms.”

I disagree. I think that if you did a poll: should abortion be legal?, I think a majority would say yes.

That said, abortion rights should be left to the states to decide.

Sen. Brownback is my dark horse candidate for the presidency in 2008. He is a true conservative, attractive, shows leadership qualities, understands the seriousness of the Islamic threat, and will expose HRC as the real leftist she really is. Giuliani will have a harder time doing that.

True, I think Giuliani might have too many skeletons in the closet.

All the polls ...No except for life of mother [some add rape and incest] but elective abortion... overwhelmingly majority say NO.

Why should we have the right to kill the unborn in the first place?

Actually, most Americans are against abortion.

That's right, but we have a supreme court that acts like a bunch of little Czars.

And abortion was always legal in life of the mother.

Abortion is the only medical procedure thought of as a "right". And the only "right" that should be SAFE LEGAL AND RARE.

Depends. Zogby had a poll that got some exposure last April. When you add rape, incest, and life of the mother, brainwaves or hearbeat, the public is decidedly pro-life.

Indeed....as rare a possible!

I've asked that question about the "right to chosse to kill" of many pro-abort thinkers and have never gotten an answer other than one in frustration...."it's my body"...which is lame at best.

Even better is the GE ultrasound pictures at 6 weeks....looks like a minature of the full grown baby [less than size of a dime]. This is why PP is fighting mandatory law requiring these machines in their abortion facilities.

It's my body is indeed lame. It is your body BEFORE sex. After pregnancy another body enters the equasion.

Youth are the most pro-life, actually.

The majority of Americans are opposed to abortion-on-demand, but support it for the life of the mother or rape/incest.

Women have every RIGHT to control their REPRODUCTIVE systems...but, when they become PREGNANT they become a LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEM.

BABY is entitled to full constitutional rights and protection as anyone else on LIFE SUPPORT.

End of Argument.

The Laci Peterson case sets legal precedent for your argument. I am not sure if I 100% with the precedent, but courts are going to have a hard time contradicting themselves, but we shall see. They have contradicted themselves in the past.

Brownback?

You mean the senator who wrote S3 the so-called ban on partial birth abortion which didn't ban partial birth abortion?

even if the mother is raped its not the childs fault .my mother was raped and never thought of getting an abortion, but she still lost the baby to a fall down some stairs she was heartbroken.nothing is the childs fault.
