Ping to the New York Times article
New Signs of Awareness Seen in Some Brain-Injured Patients
"Dr. Bernat said findings from studies like these would be relevant to cases like that of Terri Schiavo, a Florida woman with brain damage who has been kept alive for years against her husband's wishes. In that case, which drew the attention of Gov. Jeb Bush and the Legislature, relatives of Ms. Schiavo disagreed about her condition, and a brain-imaging test - once it has been standardized - could help determine whether brain damage has extinguished awareness."

Thank you so much for finding this! This is something that needs to be said again and again. Terri may be misdiagnosed, and I suspect has been by people who stand to profit (in some fashion) by rendering her as PVS.

Judge Greer was on the Florida Guardianship Monitoring Committee in the past. He put himself everywhere so he couldn't get caught. I haven't checked them out lately but it's the Florida Guardianship Monitoring Committee.
They appear to do diddly squat. They do have contact information available on line though.

If I was that brain-damaged, I would rather be dead. This I can say with absolute certainty.

Terri has two sets of diagnosis: Michael's hand picked docs probably waiting for a big payoff (under the hospice board room table) and Terri's doctors who just want to help her and would help her without the promise of big dollars, just for the honor of aiding her. HINO's docs just seek to make her dead.

This article makes alot of sense. I just know that these disabled folks do hear and understand their surroundings, and should be treated accordingly.......that's with love and care.

The patients are, she added, "more human than we imagined in the past, and it is unconscionable not to aggressively pursue research efforts to evaluate them and develop therapeutic techniques." Amen.
