"The surprise statement was issued by Sheikh Ibrahim Ibrahimi, a representative of Ayatollah Mohammad Ishaq al-Fayad, a member of the marja. "All the ulema (clergy) and marja, and the majority of the Iraqi people, want the national assembly to make Islam the source of legislation in the constitution and to reject any law that is contrary to Islam," the statement said."
This is no surprise to me, but what did surprise me is that so many people who should have known better never saw it coming.
Of course Sistani only meant the "Religion of Peace" part?
I don't like cats but I would not wish that on them. The clerics. That's fine.
as opposed to
the final version completed last March said Islam should be "a source" of legislation. No law that "contradicts the universally agreed tenets of Islam" would be accepted, the final draft of the "fundamental law" stated
Is this way different? I'm not sure...
A White House janitor heard a loud voice yelling, "Sistani isn't following the freaking play book!. Didn't he get Cheney's memo?"
I could have told them this would happen. But nobody listens to me anyway. I'm just a disabled guy living in The Peoples' Republic of Oregon. Oh, well . . . whatever.
In the News/Activism forum, on a thread titled Shias demand sharia law for constitution, Mikey_1962 wrote: |
Why not two systems at the discretion of the accused to choose? |
Simple. Because one of those systems actively promotes the murder of those who don't abide by it. I'll give you one guess which one that is ...
The Bush administration isn't shocked or surprised on this turn of events.
It's called a power play after the election. They are throwing bones to the Islamic radicals in the country.
The surprise statement was issued by Sheikh Ibrahim Ibrahimi, a representative of Ayatollah Mohammad Ishaq al-Fayad, a member of the marja. "All the ulema (clergy) and marja, and the majority of the Iraqi people, want the national assembly to make Islam the source of legislation in the constitution and to reject any law that is contrary to Islam," the statement said.
Ayatollah Mohammad Ishaq al-Fayad is playing to the Al Sadr radicals.
"sharia is only applicable to Muslims"; "under Islamic law there is no separation of church and state"
Not a good thing.
If Sistani insists on this crapola, then it's time to create Kurdistan. Sharia is only another name for theocracy, where the mullahs rule behind whatever "democratic" front machinery is in place.
JMO.
"then it's time to create Kurdistan"
...and then it's time for Turkey to invade.
Because if we "remove" these two guys we will have completely ruined any chance of a peaceful Iraq.
Remove Sistanai and you will see a real uprising the likes we could not contain.
These two guys represent the extremes of Islamic politics in Iraq. Sadr is the fire breathing holy warrior, Sistrani is the elder Islamic statesman.
If this party wins under false pretenses (we can call them the Taqiyya (sp?) Party), then it is not a true election.
As far-fetched as it may seem, they should probably vote all over again, knowing the truth about this party.
Although, come to think of it, this happens with every election in Canada. The liberals lie their heads off and take over and do what they want. Yet we keep voting for them!
Yeah, but one drawback...we would have to hire consultants from the Democratic party...
Except for the little tidbit that Islam is not quite as tolerant about human freedom and liberty as Christianity can be.
"No law that "contradicts the universally agreed tenets of Islam" would be accepted ... "
So ... honor killings ... the word of one man being equal to the word of two women ... the obligation to kill infidels ... the insane idea of seventy virgins ... all the contributions to civilization revealed in the holy Koran will be preserved in the constitution. The cesspool of Islam continues to fester.
Iraq The Model is saying this is false.
So we can go back in there in 20 years and have to do this crap all over again?
I don't think so!
Just damn.
If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...
In short, if the Iraqi people use the Democratic process to become another Taliban-dominated country that harnors terrorists that harm America, then we can, in good conscience, bomb them out of existence.
It is harder, these days, to make war against an entire people when they are under the domination of tyrants who were never freely elected.
