Haven't seen his movie. Is Clinton Eastwood pushing assisted suicide?

I haven't seen "Million Dollar Baby," but I've heard liberals on radio say it's great - but they can't share the ending - - but it has something to do with politically "important" issues - - - then there was a hint about assisted suicide.

Now, if liberals love it (and the Oscar nominators like it) and it really does involve assisted suicide, then I would assume it's PRO-assisted suicide. AM I RIGHT? If so, that's a big disappointment - - -

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought too. I've got a buddy who's a priest. I'll have to ask him what he thinks.

When John Huston made "The Maltese Falcon," he didn't mean you should go out and murder people and steal priceless artifacts.

He didn't? Opps....

"If Michael Moore comes to my house with a camera, I'll F'in kill him".

Maybe Clint meant he'd assist Moore in killing himself.

Does Clint's movie have a similiar exploration of consequences? (I haven't seen it so I don't know.)

No. He gets to eat lemon pie in the end.

I am adamantly against euthenasia and was absolutely awed by Million Dollar Baby -- a real movie you can totally get lost in and think about afterward.

The acting was brilliant and Clint Eastwood is amazing in his golden years, a real renaissance man.

It was a story. period. And one well told, acted and directed. It should win best movie of the year, but probably won't.

The only flaw in the film was the boxer's family, who were just not believable as the worst of stereotyped hillbillies. The State of Missouri should protest those characters.

As I posted earlier, I thought the film was very well done, from the acting to the directing. It should win some Oscars. I can buy the argument that Clint thought it simply an intreguing story and wanted to film it. I found it more depressing than disturbing. I didn't feel manipulated by it, but I can see where the pro-death lobby would think the movie was "great."

I really think a lot folks are doing entirely too much analyzing and dissecting of MDB. Maggie is a fun, uplifting character who gets a final knockout -- much like life itself. Do we not read books and watch films because they tell life stories?

.... Hate to make too much of this, but aren't you a freeper who doesn't like McClintock? ...

I remember now. You were one of the McCwackers. You sure did get a lot of division on that issue.

You pondered earlier in the thread why liberals seemed to push this issue. The answer to that is to insult your God, and all of His Rules. There's that answer.

But that is a digression; it isn't only liberals who favor euthanasia. I'd be glad to trade you a hundred euthanized to save on single infant from abortion. I'm in favor of euthanasia, and I reject your moral dithering. It embarrasses 'my brand' of conservative. I'm also in favor of film makers making whatever type of film they want. Except for the joy of chasing a dream that only you can see, success is found at the box office. Elmer Ganty was a lying hypocrite and his sheep incapable of deeper thought.

Yes, and that's why it won the Oscar tonight. (I wasn't watching - - wouldn't have been able to hold my dinner -- but I couldn't escape the news on the radio.)

I can see where the pro-death lobby would think the movie was "great."

Since Hollywood is part of the pro-death lobby, an Oscar was assured. In fact, it's a two-fer for the haters of christianity == they thumb their noses at God by giving an award to a film that boosts murder, and totally snub The Passion, a movie about the most important three days in the history of Creation.

He's just trying to solve the Social Security dilemma."""

The Dick Lamm (old folks have "duty to die") solution. I wonder if Lamm and other death-cultists might modify their position a little bit when they get old enough to be put down.

I think there should be a sequel to MDB, in which "Franky" (the Eastwood character) is put on trial for the murder of Maggie Fitzgerald (the Hillary Swank character). Call it, "Million Dollar Defense Attorney."

I hope they keep it up. Hollywood only guarantees that the red states will get increasingly redder.
