Mostly good points, thanks. Though I disagree with the characterization of whining. Otherwise his point of flattening Fallujah was of course juxtaposed with losing our ground forces. Just wanted to mention the rest of the story.
As far as blues music it's something he plays every Monday. Fats Domino's "Blue Monday" is a staple on Mondays.
Point taken...
Maybe I'm just frustrated these days because the 4pm drive shows in the Bay area between Hannity and Savage just stink. As I said I used to listen to Savage but he just grates hard on my nerves these days.
And Hannity... I need to at least stay awake to get home. And Sean puts me to sleep...
Thanks
I can count on one hand the number of shows I've missed since 1995, I believe.
"he's mostly showbiz"
"He swam naked with Allen Ginsberg, dreamed of being the next Lenny Bruce"
"I think he's trying a little too hard to differentiate himself from the other conservative talk show hosts."
"He's like a multiple personality. One day he's ranting away about Bush , and the next day he's flaming the liberals for disrespecting the president." [I would suggest that he flames the liberals everyday; ultra-liberalism, or just plain liberalism, is a "mental illness"]
"He is one of those people (I'm one, too) who is fuelled by a contrary impulse."
I will add what turns me (and the radio) off. His crude, schoolboy sexual talk. That may be comedy by today's "standards" but. . . It's become obvious that he is aware of that criticism from many.
It is also the reason I'd never attend a live performance. (In this case it is safe to say never.)
Despite his peccadilloes I appreciate what he is doing. To the best of my recollections it's only recently that he talks about feeling that he was called for this task. I have felt for years that he was indeed called.
From time to time he has discussed the above criticisms and much more. He knew Timothy Leary and Ginsberg. He smoked pot. He was a "flaming" liberal. He grew to dislike Leary and his ilk and to hate Ginsberg. He gave up pot knowing what it does to one's mind. He despises Ginsberg because Ginsberg ruined the lives of boys and young men especially Jack Kerouac.
One reason he brags about his degrees is because he wants to make it clear that he is not a diskjockey-cum-talkshow host.
He entered talk radio with a mission late in life. To wit, to talk directly to the public having had a book rejected by all the gatekeepers of public discourse. The book was about the dangers to public health from many of the millions of ILLEGAL aliens flooding the country.
Not discussed by Savage but true, another "angry" outspoken talkshow host, Joe Pyne, was literally run out of town because he was critical of a president who was later assassinated. A local talkshow host in Sacramento was run out of town literally because he used the term, Chinaman. An unknown Rush Limbaugh replaced him, BTW.
Don't listen if you don't like him. Why help the "enemies within" destroy him?
