Breaking: Three Dead, 24 injured, 12 Critical in Latvian Train Crash
BBC ^

Posted on 02/02/2005 11:51:58 AM PST by Murphy63

Three people died and 24 were injured in a train collision in the Latvian capital, Riga.

An empty Moscow to Riga train reversing towards a depot collided with a commuter train on Wednesday.

The front carriage of the first train has been seriously damaged, and it took several hours for rescue teams to access its interior.

Investigators say that the collision occurred because one of the drivers failed to notice red stop lights.

Twelve people have been rushed to hospitals from the scene, three of them in a serious condition. Another 12 suffered light injuries and went home after receiving first aid.

It was an international train, running between Riga and Moscow, that backed onto an active track.

I'm betting this was "alcohol related."

Baaah, pifflesquitch.
It's okay.
Giving the benefit of the doubt is good.
The big guy has the master tracker thingy anyway and has the best info.

And I am wrong every now and then.
Interesting that CJR812 keeps coming back day after day lately.
He must be bored.

Don't worry about it Calp, and thanks.
:)

Thanks.
Sometimes they fail, and I admit that.
Worse comes to worse I ask the admin if they can do an IP sniff.
That's how scott0347 and I ran across 'taotao/taftkatld' the last time.
Every time he shows up, he shows up as posting from a university in europe.

Again, thanks.
