California...More Conservatives than Texas or Florida?
US Census, Election | 1-30-05 | Bob J

Posted on 01/30/2005 11:40:42 AM PST by Bob J

Attention all you CA bashers, particularly those of you so filled with jeolosy about the Golden State you can't help posting ignorant and provincial comments.

We won't mention that CA gave this country Ronald Reagan or that this state passed, by wide margins, propositions to eliminate bi-lingual education and restrictions on benefits to illegal aliens. It wouldn't be kosher to mention we just tossed a liberal/socialist Governor out on his derrier. We won't talk about how Free Republic was created in CA, that the first activism chapter was in LA or that the very first DC Rally (The MArch for Justice in '98) that helped launch FR activism around the country was planned and organized in CA by Californians. Let's not compare the size of its economy with other states (If CA were a country, it would have the 7th largest in the world), and that the taxes paid by Californian's pay for much of other states infrastructure projects and welfare benefits. That would be piling on and not a fair fight.

How about we keep it simple and just compare raw numbers of conservatives. According to the latest census and election results in '04, CA has almost 15 million of us, compared to 12 million in Texas and only 8 million in Florida, the next 2 most populous states.

Let me post that again...

Conservative Totals

California - 14.9 million
Texas - 12.7 Million
Florida - 8.3 Million.

Read it and weep..it ain't braggin' if it's true.

So you keyboard cowboys who hate everything and never get off your butt to make something happen, take your ignorant and spiteful comments about CA falling off into the ocean and put them where sun don't shine.

To be honest, the conservative cause could do a lot better without you than without the 15 million conservatives in this state.

So if 1000 CA's give $90 for a total of $90k, and one Texan gives $100 for, well, $100, to you that is definitive win for Texas because their "average" is higher?

Remind me not to put you in charge of any money.

I think California needs some of us conservatives who left over the years to return.

But, with real estate prices what they are in California, I can't afford it! :-P

I do miss it, though. Not the busybody lawmakers, mind you...just the weather, and the scenery. Although, we're not too bad off up here in Oregon.

I think California conservatives could elect some good politicians if only they put up the right candidates. The whole point of this thread is that there are a gazillion conservatives in California.

Out of that pool, you'd think that they'd put up some of the most telegenic, articulate, and talented folks who could appeal to the general population.

They're out there. They're just not running for office.

The Arnie haters hate Arnie because they are one issue voters, and ignore or dismiss all the good conservative issues he is leading on. They want their cake and eat it to. I'd like to know what states they come from and let them defend some of the dumb things that come from there.

This is the same shortsighted myopia that causes people to dismiss CA. They also ignore the fact FR was created and is run out of CA. Doesn't matter to them, they feel good saying the country would be better off if CA dropped off into the ocean...even though FR would drop off with it.

These are the kind of small thinking idiots to avoid. They are poison.

What makes a "quality" candidate? I will tell you, exposure. Media exposure makes a star and CA conservatives wait for scraps to fall off the table because the media in this state is ruled by the LA Times, SF Chronicle and Hollywood.

They're out there, you just never see them...wonder why?

That will end up in a draw as CA west will always get 2 lib Senators. Better to spend our time getting our share of campaign $$ which might translate into balanced media coverage. Getting 2 pub senators out of CA is a net 4 turn around.

I'm with you......I battle these types all the time and 90% have never lived her and only know Calif from the news. They have no idea about the depth and breadth of Calif and it's climate in all avenues. It is narrow minded and intolerant but it makes them feel good.....so be it....I hate the Dems as much as they do but somehow they feel superior if they have someone to beat up on....that is a poor mentality and not very forward thinking....I'm not a one issue voter for the most part and I choose some progress over perfection.......You don't find many of us from Calif dissing other states like they do but living here you develop more tolerance than in many other parts of the country......oh well...they are entitled to their opinion no matter how ill informed it may be

The media in Texas is no better, so that's not the smoking gun. Somehow, despite all their biased reporting, selective coverage, and liberal endorsements, the good guys still win.

It drives them nuts.

If they spent as much time battling libs as they do tearing CA conservatves down, they might actually accomplish more than pushing buttons on a remote.

California also gave us Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer. Were it not for Texas and Florida, you would have given us John Kerry. Thank you very much.

You can't compare CA and TX on this issue, the candidate is from TX and was their Governor, a distinct starting gate advantage. A lot of Texans will vote for Bush simply because he is a Texan. Same thing happens in other states.

You're right, let's burn the whole state down, it stinks from head to toe.

I've read good things about both of those men. If California conservatives back them for a bigger office, they could buy all the media time they needed to compete.

Freepers need to take over the state party apparatus. It's been ineffective and badly managed for years.

People like to bash CA as the cause of the illegal immigration problem in America. Sure there are CA RATS that kiss the rings of MECHA. But at least CA resident lead the charge to repeal the driver's licenses for illegals law. Deep Red States like Utah, NC, and TN have allowed illegals to obtain driver's licenses for many years. And there is no complaint from the conservatives in those states.

Then we can turn our attention to all those damn blue counties, they got to go too, who cares if the vote was a slim 49%-51%...if they went blue they have to be exterminated.

you are right and they like to bash Calif cause it is in the spotlight....we are kind of used to it but I'll still defend it...people like Orin Hatch is a devout Mormon and Repub likes stem cell research but you don't hear the same people who bash Arnie bashing him cause it is a one sides and intolerant hatred of things they don't know much about or focus on the negative.......

I even backed away from MCClintock and voted for Arnold even though I knew in my heart it was so wrong but I listened to the hysteria of God Forbid a Cruz Bustamante win. I was willing to give Arnold a chance. Arnold was a Republican even if it was in name only but he would have to campaign for President Bush. Why this could give the state of California to Bush. Why we might finally be rid of Boxer. WHOO HOO. Than the elections came and went. You could not hear a word from muscle man over the loud noises of the crickets in the background. He slapped all of us Californians in the face when he campaigned in Ohio for Bush. As far as I am concern it told me one of two things, either he did not have the balls to do it and Maria really wears the pants in that family OR he is really a democrat and Republican in name only in other words a traitor. What a joke. Yes, I am very upset with Arnold because he betrayed all of us. As to the illegal driver's license mess, that is by no means over. We are still fighting this and can you honestly say without a doubt what Arnold will do? I can't because I don't trust him. Actions speak louder than words. Arnold has already proved to me where is bread his buttered. Can Uncle Teddy be far behind.

They're here DG, but they get no press unless it is a concocted scandal and they and the CA pub party get no money from the RNC.

No press and no money...people wonder why we can't get rid of Feinstein and Boxer. I'll tell you this, Boxer could have been knocked off if they had 20-30 million and went negative on her. She has been the biggest empty dress in DC in the last decade.
