California...More Conservatives than Texas or Florida?
US Census, Election | 1-30-05 | Bob J

Posted on 01/30/2005 11:40:42 AM PST by Bob J

Attention all you CA bashers, particularly those of you so filled with jeolosy about the Golden State you can't help posting ignorant and provincial comments.

We won't mention that CA gave this country Ronald Reagan or that this state passed, by wide margins, propositions to eliminate bi-lingual education and restrictions on benefits to illegal aliens. It wouldn't be kosher to mention we just tossed a liberal/socialist Governor out on his derrier. We won't talk about how Free Republic was created in CA, that the first activism chapter was in LA or that the very first DC Rally (The MArch for Justice in '98) that helped launch FR activism around the country was planned and organized in CA by Californians. Let's not compare the size of its economy with other states (If CA were a country, it would have the 7th largest in the world), and that the taxes paid by Californian's pay for much of other states infrastructure projects and welfare benefits. That would be piling on and not a fair fight.

How about we keep it simple and just compare raw numbers of conservatives. According to the latest census and election results in '04, CA has almost 15 million of us, compared to 12 million in Texas and only 8 million in Florida, the next 2 most populous states.

Let me post that again...

Conservative Totals

California - 14.9 million
Texas - 12.7 Million
Florida - 8.3 Million.

Read it and weep..it ain't braggin' if it's true.

So you keyboard cowboys who hate everything and never get off your butt to make something happen, take your ignorant and spiteful comments about CA falling off into the ocean and put them where sun don't shine.

To be honest, the conservative cause could do a lot better without you than without the 15 million conservatives in this state.

I agree with your opinion on the blue/red state thing and have stated so many times. It's idiotic.

As far as the comparison, all I stated was that Texas had a 2 second head start out of the gate. If the presidential nominee was from another state, I think there would be a smaller margin of victory.

No biggee, just an observation.

You see everyone as a liberal unless they agree 100% with your views.

Hell bells, Bush has pushed government spending, the deficit, out to the orbit of Jupiter. We now have upwards of 3 *million* people entering our country illegally, every year, during war time yet!

Let me guess, you consider this patriotic and conservative?

Maybe if I were from Texas, that would mean something. If you'd read the rest of the thread, you would have seen that I never wished ill on CA.

Please read before you flame.

You are a perfect example. I don't believe I've seen one post generalizing and criticizing an entire state from the Cali's. Individuals maybe, not the whole state.

You on the other hand, cut a wide swath with your hatred, jeolousy and prejudice, then have the chutzpah to accuse your opponents of doing the very same thing. You stick entire states and all their citizens with nasty labels just because it makes you feel good.

Personally, I don't need conservatives of your stripe. You're selfish and small minded and do nothing but instill negativity in others. You are a poison to the movement.

Buh bye.

And all college and university campuses filled with liberal professors who fill the heads of students with such garbage, the kids don't have a chance. Take away SF, Berkeley, Santa Barbara, Hollyweird, Beverly Hills, most of LA and a few other cesspools and we the conservatives, would win California by a landslide. Oh yeah, fire all the rino republican wimp politicians.

You just made my point.

It appears that you do not want advice, support, or debate at all on this thread. Most of your comments are full of scorn and sarcasm. Is this the way you make friends and allies in California? If so, then your attitude here toward my comments and comments of the others is quite telling.

I'm finished. Thanks for playing.

Now all of these comments might make you angry, but why don't all those millions of California conservatives start trying to take your state back instead of worrying about what the rest of the country thinks?

And now for a bit of truth.

One of the biggest problems in Cal, and now the rest of the country is this epic invasion of illegal aliens, the crime, the cost, choking off social services etc you name it. We had a free election, and voted for and passed prop 187, it would have put a *stop* to tax paid support of criminal illegal aliens. Bush, before he became president came out against it. Are you surprised? They eventually burned our ballots and declared our free, historic election illegal. The results of this govt action can now been seen from Cal to North Carolina.

This country voted for Clinton twice. Now we have a president the has not only grown govt, and pushed govt spending out to the edges of the solar system. At the same time, our borders now resemble an endless Boston Marathon of millions, entering illegally, at will, routinely.

And you stand here suggesting we in Cal clean our act up? The fish stinks from the head my friend.

Deal with it.

Don't be ripping on Arizona! Especially when you live in the glass house that gave us Boxer, Pelosi, Feinstein, Waxman, Sanchez and the former disgrace Ron Dellums.

Arizona would vote more conservative, but we have an immigration problem, all the damn Californians that can't afford to live in your fair state have moved here and screwed everything up. Bush lost California, get over it, thankfully, better states picked up their slack.

Nobody is asking for the kind of advice you offer. How about trying a little optimism and support?

BTW - I am a resident of Wyoming, I grew up in CA and have a second home there. I have no interest in making friends and allies with people who don't have a second thought about ripping apart things that are important to others just because it makes them feel superior.

I have a lot of friends in Texas, but it seems like most of the nasty invective comes from there. What is it with some Texans obsession with CA? Sometimes it reminds me of the way some Canadians are obsessed with and criticize the US.

Damn...you Californians are touchy!

Face it, all the good work conservatives do in California is overshadowed by two enduring images - Hollywood and San Francisco. I'm not even going to bring up Berkeley (that would be too cruel) or Modesto, the place that has given us Gary Condit and Scott Peterson in recent years.

Before California conservatives can convince us they have any political power, they need to yank the Socialist Twins out of the Senate and re-elect Arnold or somebody to the right of Arnold. When you do that, maybe we'll think about including you guys in our Red State Club.

Otherwise, Californians...heal thyselves.

This is so funny. The federal guvmint tells CA it has to provide these services to illegals, the citizens pass a proposition to end it, a socialist Guvner throws it in the trash can during a backroom, midnight meeting, the citizens then throw he guv out on his ass and there are these boneheads telling us CA conservatives are lazy, deaf and stupid. I love arrogant ignorance, it makes the world so .

I understand the problem of illegal immigration. We here in Texas see enough of it as well. I won't argue about the cost, the crime, and all the other problems associated with this invasion on our country.

Unfortunately, I do not know anything about prop 187, the then Governor Bush's opposition to it, any burning of ballots, or declaration of illegality of the vote. I would appreciate reading any specific material about these issues if you could kindly point to anything readily available. Until then, I believe I am unqualified to comment on it.

The only question I have, is how can a man having no political power over California be the cause of the actions and events you described? It's not that I am arguing about your comments, rather my lack of knowledge on the matter prevents me from making the connection.

Yes, I am claiming that California clean up its act. However, I am most willing to say that California is not the only state what has major problems with its leaders, and the massive corruption within its government. This thread began as an accusation to the rest of the country that we do not support California conservatives. What then, can we do? Yes, California has millions of registered Republicans. Yes, California contributed millions of votes to the reelection of President Bush. What do the rest of us have to do with California and its problems, and how can any fingers pointed nastily at the rest of us possibly be used in a positive way to help the advance of good, honest conservatism in the state?

LOL! And you blame California for Arizonas immigration problem? You have an immigration problem all right, but it isn't from Cal. Just like what's happening in Colorado, North Carolina, Ohio, Illinois, Tennessee, Texas, Oregon, Florida, Nevada, Texas, etc etc etc.

Now you can attempt to blame all this on Cal, but it only makes you look very foolish, jealous or both.

That's a tough one. Why not ask your neighbors, the people in North Carolina, Ohio, Arizona, Tennesses, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Indiana, Colorado, Illinois, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, etc, etc etc etc. LOL!
