These pictures bring tears to my eyes -- am so proud of the Iraqi leadership for not postponing the election but holding firm. What an occasion to witness! Hope the media are fairer reporting their election then they were ours.
Pointing to his finger, dyed with indelible blue ink to indicate he had voted, Detroit resident Khadim Al-Khafaji said: "This is my finger I push in Saddam's eye." "The Saddam regime is gone," Khafaji said. "Thank you, United States."
Just what I said up a few posts, Carolina. We just do not appreciate what we have here.
5am in Baghdad.
StatenIsland -
I have to agee with you. I knew this was an historically important event but I've been surprised by how teary-eyed I've been watching it unfold.
I'll bet there are a lot who cannot sleep just waiting for the chance to vote.......
2 hours and counting.
countdown to history.......I can even stomach watching Geraldo for this........
God protect them.
Oh my gosh--that group of Kurds are from the same area I live in!!! Terrific!! Glad to see them so happy ----
I just walked out of room long enough to miss Charles Krauthammer on with Tony Snow. Dang, he is someone I always like to listen too. Did anyone see him? Is he optomistic or pessimistic about the election?
Yes.
Militant narcissism.
Gotta believe that Ronald Reagan is looking down and smiling broadly
As much as I believe Teddy Kennedy wants tomorrow to be a failure.
Is this being broadcast anywhere? Does anybody know? I just tapped this thread to see what was going on - and I've been on it ever since (eyes getting misty). Is there a press/TV presentation on this?
Thanks for posting the vid link.
Thanks for the pictures -- cannot imagine what it would be like to be able to vote for the first time in 50 years. The people in this Country that don't vote should be ashamed.
I hope SOME network has cameras down in the south where the Shia were so horribly repressed under Saddam. Maybe while they're there they could even show us the reconstituted wetlands our Corps of Engineers brought back!
just saw General Clark on FOX......he toned it down a bit, maybe because he senses defeat in the air....at least for him, the Dems and terrorists.......
Fox! Of course :)
"countdown to history.......I can even stomach watching Geraldo for this........"
I hear you, don't think I want to watch any of the MSM coverage since most of it will be sour grapes and they'll rain on the parade.
