It is now 3 am in Iraq the polls will be opening in the next few hours as the world watches and hold's it breath. Iraq is about to undertake a historic vote.
Lets wish them well....... please post all comments and election photos to this thread.
They know how much it means to them and that's what's important right now. For the last year, I've seen how these people have had to live due to Saddam's excesses and brutality and they are coming out from under that, slowly but surely.
Be assured, they are aware how all of this came about and how they've come to have the freedom to vote today. :-)
Pasta la banana.
Of course. I've credited them too. :-) Truly heros all.
I looked it up on snopes.com - no mention of his name ever having been "King".
Yearbook photos from Geraldo's high school and college (the University of Arizona) demonstrate that his name was not Jerry Rivers: his given name was indeed Gerald, and his surname alternated between the family name, Rivera, and his mother's "continentalized" spelling of it, Riviera.
reverting back to there old self.....earlier if you read the posts too, CNN was actually giving pretty positive covreage, their Intl division.......oh well, that is more than they usually have.......like I said before.....CNN Intl is great if you like Benny Hill on a enema....bunch of Brits with monotone
What's great about that is Saddam never got to use it, he ended up in a 4x4 dirt hole. LOL It was good to see Shep make those comments.
yeah.......but he loves being with the Marines and Soldiers so he is in his element....I know he as sincere as we are for his love for the troops......
Iraqi Electoral Commission Briefing on CNN.
Plucking that murderous dictator from a spiderhole was the ultimate justice. LOL
What part of SD are you in ....I lived there in the mid 80's going to grad school at SDSU......lived in and around there, Hotel Circle and up above the stadium
Agreed.
Semper Fi...........
I'm afraid you're right. We free them....down the road, they hate us.
I live out by Rancho Bernardo. Moved about a year and a half ago from Sacramento. Lived in Sac. for about 18 yrs. Beautiful down here!
Good point! Thanks for your imput. This is just so amazing and BTW, I feel lucky to be able to talk to you and get the real scoop.
"Plucking that murderous dictator from a spiderhole was the ultimate justice."
I still vascillate with would it have been better to snuff him right then and there or keep him for trial.. But, considering the great voter turnout I would have to say Saddam is in misery as he sees this taking place.
It is my hope that Saddam is watching all this taking place on TV.
Man, this is just so great, isn't it? We show up, we toss a dictator, Iraqis hold elections, and people vote! Waiting in line may not be fun, but these are BEAUTIFUL LINES!
I remember when he had that sleaze show on similar to Jerry Springer, he, himself had said that his last name was King. It was the show when the skinheads were on along with the white group from California. The day he got his nose broken. He told the leader of the white group who were not skinheads that his last name was King. It could be that he started using the Rivera thing when he enrolled at AZ. Now you have me confused. LOL Must be my sleeping pills kicking in. I'm going to sleep!
