Good evening, maxwellp. It makes me happy to know you enjoy the photos. As for Willie vs. India, frankly it's a bit of a mystery to me. Others have said it's the same cat, and that Willie is sort of the cat's nickname. I've never been able to find anything that confirms either way if it's two cats or one with two names. (Probably one of the President's jokes.)

I did write the captions with the Barney photo essay today. Given Kennedy's latest hystrionic, vile speech, I had to find some way to show my disgust in a manner that was in keeping with the Dose threads.

Well, good evening, everyone. It's time I got some things done around here. Due to the Iraqi elections, it's hard to say if we'll see the President tomorrow, although he and the First Lady usually go to church early in the morning. I may wait until fairly late to post the Dose tomorrow just in case he makes a late afternoon statement on Iraq.

I have a theory as to why the White House cat has two names. When GWB first took office in 2001, word got out about his cat named India. Shortly thereafter, the people of the country, India, were supposedly up in arms over the fact that the president would insult them by naming his cat after their country. Perhaps that's around the time that the cat acquired her nickname of Willie. Just a thought.

I believe President Bush likes to give people nicknames, so perhaps "India" did become "Willie". Thanks for your response and again, many thanks for the pictures and commentary!
