Metrolink hit a Jeep, derailed and hit another train. That's the scoop from KFI.
Why?
Until my 7-year-old gets busy with other things I turned the carnage off. I can't watch TV and post here anyway.
*shrug* Different parenting styles.
EXACTLY what I was thinking....

One's 7 and one's 5 & I can't answer their questions right now, anyway.
Latest report:
Three trains involved
4 Dead
Hundreds injured
The news conference going on now says 9 fatalities.
Transported over 100 to hospitals
They have searched cars 5 times, still concerned about the car that is heavily damaged.
9 dead
9 fatalities at the site at this time
Nine dead? God have mercy.
Nully, sometimes that age sees the news conference as the meida replay the story over and over and the child then believes that in reality the accident occurs as many times as they have seen it. They don't think abstractly yet.
Over a hundred were transported to hospitals, hundred still at scene, they are still looking in the trains.
Both side of tracks involved.
As one train was derailing after striking stalled Jeep, the other train caught the tail of the derailing train. Vehicle was in between railroad gates. It's looking as if the vehicle was deliberately parked on the track.
That piece of metal was shaped somewhat like a bumper but didn't appear long enough.
I wish my screen capture was working. Darn (actually it's working my good computer is not)
The driver of the jeep is alive.
Sheriff was onboard both on the way to work and as security. 23 year veteran. Private vehicle on track caused derailment. Hinting possible deliberate act to park on the tracks knowing trains coming. Driver is alive. All talking at once. Lost feed...
Preliminary: Nine deaths; 2 Deputy Sheriffs injured, 1 Deputy Sheriff killed; KABC TV.
