"I rise to oppose the confirmation of Ms. RIce... too many mistakes she was in part responsible for... dismissed Iraq army now firing on our troops... dismissed Bathists who now oppose us..."
He's now harping on Bush as a leader failing in Iraq...[he] "will not give accoutability, so we in Congress must do it for him."
But then, we know Bayh has personal ambitions, too.
Though Bayh was something of a moderate Dem?
Ditto that! I'm one ticked off Hoosier. I'm gon'na send Bayh a nasty note.
Bye, bye senator Bayh.
Too bad....I always thought he was one of the very few sane Democrat Senators! Guess they are none left!
Double-barrelled Mega-PING! to both lists! If you want on, FReepmail me!
He sure doesn't speak for this Hoosier.
How many more drinks will this POS have to consumer before his brain turns completly to mush and he exits this world to his just reward?
Indiana was a strongly red state for Pres. Bush.
A real opponent for Bayh needs to be found.
Yep, and up until 30 seconds ago I considered him to be fairly honest and serious, as Dem'Rats go...
If Hilly votes for her, that will be raised if Rice is on a ticket opposing her, which I don't think is likely at this point, but certainly possible - for this to happen: 1. Hilly has to be on the Dem ticket, and 2. Rice has to be on the GOP ticket.
So everytime she would rail against her opponents, people can point out that she herself voted for Rice. How bad could Rice be? That's a pretty stinging soundbite.
If Hilly votes against her, it could be depictaed as her short-circuting a possible political rival. Not as bad as the former scenario, but not good either.
Honestly, I don't think Hilly or Rice will be on presidential tickets in 2008.
If I were Hilly, I'd abstain from the vote.
IN MY HUMBLE OPINION:
1) he's nice looking (and don't say that doesn't count for anything anymore); 2) people remember his daddy; 3) he graduated from IU; 4) when he and his wife (Barbie Doll) had their twins while Pretty Boy was in office, the Indianapolis media (biggest and most powerful in the state) made a huge deal over them; the media family facade continues to this day.
I voted for Pretty Boy the last two times he has run for office. Today, I am really upset at my decision to support him. Planning to drop a taxpayer e-mail his way this afternoon.
Yup. He has sided with the nuts of the party.
He probably thinks he is safe because he just got reelected. I also think he is going to run in 2008 for the presidency.
We had better have a charismatic guy to run against him. He will be a formidable opponent.
If the Senate is empty, do we have to worry? Maybe only those who are going to vote against Dr. Rice are there, or do they let the absent ones know when it is time to vote?
And he might as well cancell them. I figured he's the one who could have run as the unDem and won.
Me too. Bye bye Bayh.
Bayh ran dependant on their money...Now it's pay back time.
He's owned by them.
Evan Bayh's father was a long time US senator who had mythical standing.
He was defeated by Dan Quayle in 1984(?) as a part of Reagan's conservative momentum.
His son rode his father's name as a 2 term governor and now a two term US Senator.
In his first term, he voted against President President Bush's tax plan, John Ashcroft's nomination for AG, and other measures.
At one point Senator Bayh would appear on MSNBC Hardball on the left with Katrina and the rest of the Red Army.
But in Indiana he is still considered it's golden boy.
I will actively work against his presidential primary bid if he announces one.
