I've reverted to modified Okie since I moved to Oklahoma. I thought I lost that g-dropping thing (goin', fixin' etc) but I was wrong.
But surely you must admit, using "y'all" makes perfect sense, since it fills a gap in the English language (pluralizing "you".) Smoother than the Yankee "You guys".
However, when I first spoke to my new sister in law and told her I was her husbands brother, she said "no you're not" and I asked why she thought that I wasn't her husbands brother, she told me "because you have a southern accent.
go figure
