If you rarely need medical assistance, the health care system is fine.
I probably see the doctor, at most, once every year or two. I have rarely needed a specialist, if at all. My kids, ages 16 and 18, rarely need a doctor either, thankfully.
If you have an emergency the system is good. There may be a wait at times, but they take you in order of urgency, which is fair.
It is when you need special treatment, surgery, etc., that there seem to be many complaints. I am not just talking about what you hear in the media...they will find a complainer for everything. I mean listening to friends and their experiences, etc. Lots of waiting for appointments (months to see someone) and treatment. Typical results when the government runs things and puts limits on everything.

I taught a macaw to say "damn it!" in less than a week.
Dogs and birds can get along pretty well. Usually the bird ends up as boss. I had an afghan hound named Zalouq years ago, and a big green macaw named Merlin, hence my screen name. They would chase each other around the house, but that was a special relationship. I wouldn't recomend letting dogs and birds together unsupervised. They are both gone now, probably playing together at the Rainbow Bridge

Thank goodness we left the east coast on Friday before the snow set in. We were to have flew back home today, as it was we got home before the snow set into Chicago as well.
I certainly don't want a health care system like yours. The Liberals here do, though.
BTW, if you want to see a Canadian doctor, take a cruise ship in the last few months of the year. Many of them have earned their maximum incomes in Canada, and sign on to cruise ships at the end of the year.
I don't know how you all get care at the end of the year, but cruise ships have plenty of Canadian doctors to choose from.

Just curious Wolfstar. Is that the way it was printed. It is normally traditional that champions are printed in red and non-champions in black.
Question about the yorkshire pudding recipe: most of the recipes I've seen in books mention using drippings from the roast instead of the oil. I take it that the pudding comes out all right without the drippings, so I guess that's just for flavor?
My mother's family is English and my grandmother made a roast often, but I never saw her make a Yorkshire pudding. I'll have to try it.
I have a question for you about something else related to cooking. I've always read of people eating cucumber sandwiches with their tea but have never tasted one. My grandmother didn't make those either. I've got some wonderful cucumbers now and I'd love to try them. I've tried several types of bread and they don't seem to taste right. Is this something you've made, and how do you make them? Is the bread toasted or not, do you use mayonnaise, butter or cream cheese on the bread?
One last thing, regarding traditional Sunday food: when I was growing up my mom always made fried chicken. It was traditional [even though she was English]. Everyone where we lived always had fried chicken. I even saw someone kill a chicken and pluck it, then fix it for Sunday dinner. It was nicknamed the "gospel bird."
Now that I'm doing the cooking, I make other things like roast, and often we eat out. We had chicken paprikash today [Hungarian thing].
Presidents don't normally carry cash because they don't carry a wallet. But Dubya has carried it during campaign stops where he has paid for his own food in resturants. I have seen him pull cash out of his pocket. He probably didn't think about cash for this as it was his inaugural service.
It is very common for a male to become protective of a female puppy. Happens all the time.

I didn't see the actual thread on it, but I can well imagine. We witnessed what an inch of snow did to DC the day before the inauguration. Didn't need a demonstration of that multiplied by 10! :^P

I'd love to go on a cruise, but taxes are so high up here to pay for socialized medicine and everything else our liberal government hands out, I can't afford it!
Perhaps they will start subsidizing cruises for the holiday-deprived among us.
