now there ya go..the therapy's working :-)
One of the first steps is self realization.
Just kidding of course..you can have your opinions just like the rest of us. Just back em up.
you two done stroking each others, um, egos yet? okay, good. now pay attention.
cowher made the right call. at that point, any winning scenario involved keeping the patriots out of the end zone on the subsequent drive. had the defense done that, you would have remained within striking distance past the 5 minute mark - which is all you could ask after having been down 21 at the half.
but I guess that isn't enough of an "answer", where "answer" is defined as lockstep agreement with a frustrated non-objective fan.
Wouldn't suprise me. It's not like the NFL keeps it's schedule a secret, it's the only sport that knows exactly where and when it's championship game is going to take place years in advance, and it's pretty easy to find out, probably even easier if you work for the President. No reason to conflict with it, as the NFL season winds down the sports world starts getting dull (Tuesday starts the traditionally most boring month in sports, the month ESPN gets so desperate they actually show spelling, the month that made the Westminster Dog Show news, the month that made high stakes poker a sport), and the legislative session usually gets dull in 2 or 3 weeks. And here we have the election in a time when the entire news world gets desperate for a story, coincidence?
I wouldn't have faulted you for going with Staley. If there's a drawback to using Bettis in that scenario, it's that he needs to line up a bit further back to get momentum, which could telegraph the play. Ironically, it's that momentum that's so valuable down there by the goal line.
If I had that team, I'd put them on the field together more often to prevent LBs from keying on one or the other. But I also couldn't have coached 'em to 16-2, so Cowher obviously was doing something right.
hey, if POKER can be a spectator sport... :)
ROFL!!! So true!!!
I love the QB draws, they are nearly always successful. But I guess coaches try to limit them because of possible QB injuries.
The old draw play, it's so funny watching everyone running right past the QB as he changes directions and heads for yardage. LOL!
not with a pro-bowl offensive line, two of the best downhill runners in football -- good points all. See how easy that was.
and a shellshocked rookie quarterback -- can't agree with your psychiatric assessment of Ben though.
but I forgot - this is an FR sports thread, where context means nothing. -- you see this is where you go back into your childish whining and persecuted attitude. No need for that.
I certainly wouldn't want the task of stopping Bettis on three tries. I guess that makes me an idiot. -- no it doesn't. But the last part makes you SEEM like a sniveling kid with a persecution complex.
****
The game's over, the Steelers lost. Why don't you start concentrating all your game wisdom on the Eagles.
Here's hoping no one gets hurt in the SB, and the the game is decided by good football and not good fortune. Should be a great game.
don't patronize me. I've made planty of good points, and they don't need your validation. people who know more than you do pay me for my analysis.
how you can dedicate post after post to personal insults, then want to be friendly, is beyond me.
Should be a great game.
it will be, whether people want to believe it or not.
everyone enjoy the game.
AUSTIN NOT BOSTON
had the defense done that, you would have remained within striking distance past the 5 minute mark --- not cool! I'm not crazy about being behind by 11 points with (as you say) 5 minutes to go against the defending World Champs!!!!. I'm feeling a lot better about the outcome of the game if the Steerlers would have been successful on that 2 yard line -- only 7 points behind then with nearly a whole quarter to play,.......... and what I think you may be MISSING, the crowd would have been going NUTS on that next Patriot possession! It would have been a madhouse! God knows, the Patriots might have coughed it up, made a mistake in that environment on their next possession.
Anyhow , this is proper back and forth! Good. Now it's your chance to reply to my two answers to you.... if you wish to.
ROFL....your analysis of what...... their cuticles?
that's funny - as they prepare to play the eagles, all I'm hearing is how they're so godlike and unflappable.
no matter what subsequent scoring scenario you argue, the bottom line is that you don't take those kinds of risks until you need to. to do so prematurely smacks of desperation. it's the same reason teams down 15 don't go for 2 after the first TD. or maybe they do in your video game.
in any event, I'm bored. feel free to call me an idiot and declare you won the war of attrition or whatever. don't forget to ping evad to it too!
Somewhat presumptuous of you. :-)
I just want to be civil with you. You're a smart guy. But, I really don't seek friendliness with people who pose as so certain, all-knowing, and arrogant, especially when you look like you may just have started picking up a razor (so to speak). When you tone down your needy certitude, you will become a very likable guy.
Now, if you were an arrogant woman who looked like Catherine Zeta-Jones, spew on!
Hey, by the way, did you note that FR album site for FReeper pics? If you go there look at The Wizard.
no matter what subsequent scoring scenario you argue, the bottom line is that you don't take those kinds of risks until you need to -- you just cannot apparently do the numbers on this I give up on you. It wasn't a "risk" even if they failed on 4th down and the Pats had to start from there. We still basically needed two touchdowns with the field goal or even if we were stopped.
to do so prematurely smacks of desperation -- "smacks of" lol.... in your mind.
or maybe they do in your video game -- this may surprise you, punk but I have never played a video game in my 58 years on this earth.
"or maybe they do in your video game" -- that is EXACTLY what it is meant here when some say that you resort to smart*ss, lame, childish remarks. You resort to being a mere smart-mouth punk! You always resort to that crap! You are better than that, but you alway take the low road.
don't forget to ping evad to it too! -- I didn't. He enjoys your bizarre posts as much as I do. ;-)
Thanks. But ahem, the Westminster Dog Show IS big news to many, including moi.
Absolutely.
Roethlisberger would have been better off trying to score with his legs rather than his arm at that point.
To me McNair (when he's healthy) is scary around the goal line. If his receivers aren't open he can run it in. If he tries a draw or bootleg and can't get in he can just throw instead. I really hope his career isn't cut short.
