LOL!
You certainly may............. the size of the jocks of everyone else in the huddle.
LOL!
I didn't like the pass play. Specifically I didn't like it on 2nd down, one of the lamer trends in the NFL today is to pass on 2nd and goal after failing to convert with the run on 1st and goal, it's so telegraphed and transparent most defenses now seem to expect it, you can almost see the coach saying "well the run didn't work let's pass", and you can see the opposing defenses think "well we stuffed the run, bet they try to pass". And the fact that Burress was double covered showed the Pats D was expecting the pass. And for a run oriented team like the Steelers to abondon the pass in that predictable a way is even worse. If a team is going to pass in X and goal it should be on 1st down when nobody expects it or 3rd down after having run on 1st and 2nd and demonstrated a commitment to the run. The only good thing I can say about that 2nd down pass is that it wasn't play action, which it frequently is when teams run on 1st and pass on 2nd, at least Cowher didn't try to pretend he wasn't abandoning the run on a play when everybody on the other team knew he was going to abandon the run.
RIGHT ON THE BUTTON. THE KID CANNOT BE HONEST. RIGT ON!
LOL!!!
Here's hoping the Eagle's coach is as limited in his choices if he ever gets in that situation against the Patriots! You're quite the card, L4B!
Hey, evad, this kid would not throw the ball from the three yard line on first, second, or third down! Maybe we're talking with Marty Schottenheimer!
;-)
I hear you on that. I wasn't crazy about the call, but I'm not going to "complain" about it either. But, I will never forgive, and I was posting this same sentiment on threads the morning after the game, I will never forgive kicking that field goal on 4th down. It killed nearly any chance to win that game, imo.
But your comments on strategy, I hear you.
I must tell you, I've read dozens of your posts, and you are one even-minded, well-thinking guy.
How about that election in Iraq, btw. Ted Kennedy is throwing up in the sink watching the news today.
;-)
LOL -- I missed that gem the first time. ;-)
Oh but I am...
what I'm interested in is your reasoning for why the pass call was a bad call.
You repeatedly evade that subject for whatever your reasons may be so let me say it again..
WHY WAS THE PASS PLAY A BAD CALL?
Hey l4b..here is what's know as an ANSWER to a question.
Even though I disagree with it, I can understand the poster's position.
Is this your position also, even though for some reason you've been unable to state it??
Ugh..
I'm still smarting from that one ;-(
Yeah, and yet he knows it's automatic that they could have scored a 2 point conversion WHEN THEY NEEDED IT.
L4B is a joke and it has been fun but all the spinning and obfuscation is starting to make me dizzy :)
He was going to be doing that anyway...I think it's a routine part of his wake up call.
But, a good point. Some really GREAT stuff happening today. The prez was brief and grrrreat!
dims, msm and euroweeners have got to be on suicide watch.
I thought Staley off tackle would have been a better choice down there instead of going to Bettis.
Yep. Good point.
L4B is a joke and it has been fun but all the spinning and obfuscation is starting to make me dizzy :)
Yeh, I'm real tired of talking to myself with him too. I wish him well I guess, but all I know is that he has given me just one more reason to root for the Patriots to play a spotless game against his team. He's just 'a young kid with an attitude'. Take it easy........ for now!
****
By the way, I see by your profile page that you're not going anywhere any time too soon. ;-) Cats sure know how to take over don't they. I have had them all my life, and currently have two. I should say, they have me.....you know -- dogs have owners, cats have servants. :-)
Right now MSNBC can't help but admit that it was a very big success!
Yeah..this is a kitty with a real 'tude. But he's a good moler so I can't get rid of him. I tried once but the family outvoted me, 3 to 1.
He then became a $500 cat..ouch!
Go Pats!!!
Yep, Go Pats!
If they play their game, they will prevail.

A moving and humbling sight today of these people, walking long distances, standing in line with the possiblity of death, to vote for their country.
What a day!
I'll complain about the call, but I won't call for Cowher's job over it. Common mistakes are common mistakes for a reason.
I do what I can, one of the things that makes football great is the opportunity for over analysis and second guessing.
The Iraqi elections are a wonderous thing, they make me very proud to be an American for what little I've contributed (mostly through tax dollars) to this goal, and I think every Iraqi should be extremely proud of this day. Best media week in Superbowl history and whoever looked at the schedule and decided to put the election this weekend was damned smart.
Off tackle would be good, Staley was getting good yards off tackle. I'm particularly fond of a HB or QB draw on 2nd and goal, draws play into a defense's expectations of pass after the 1st down run got stuffed, and the Steelers had gotten some good yards on the draw already. Of course I'm generally fond of draws and don't think any team uses them enough, it's the inverse of the play action pass and I think a good mix of both helps keep opposing defenses really confused.
What an interesting thought. You really think it was intentional? I hope that GWB's planners are that wily.
not with a pro-bowl offensive line, two of the best downhill runners in football, and a shellshocked rookie quarterback I wouldn't. ESPECIALLY when you've already been forced to run less than you'd like to because of the score and clock.
but I forgot - this is an FR sports thread, where context means nothing.
maybe from the 9, things are different. or if you take an illegal motion penalty, etc. I certainly wouldn't want the task of stopping Bettis on three tries. I guess that makes me an idiot.
