How often was the "period" cut to one week, by the way?
I don't dispute the numbers, why would I. I just think that there is no correlation -- not nearly enough data to make any real meaningful causal relationship. It's bunk to me, and meaningless in the discussion of THIS SUPER BOWL. (imo)
Meaningless........ just sports talk from fans and NOT from players.
LOL! -- true.
Grace Kelly just perked up again....
;-)
as a scientist, I agree with you on this, as it's far from a controlled environment (quality of participants/circumstances is so wildly variable from year to year). those factors, combined with the small sample (5 years or so for the short break) make it impossible to determine any mind of statistical significance.
however, I do think there might be something to the theory that the two-week period allows a superior coaching staff to more dramatically out-prepare the other. that having been said, with the quality of coaches in this game on both sides, I don't expect either team to be ill-prepared.
Makes sense.
My most favotite "sportsman" lost yesterday at The Australian Open. Boo-hoo!

???? Where (what post) did I ask you about Esiason??????
I mnetioned "Norman Einstein in post # 2002, but Esiason?????
You know! Boomer Einstein!! :^)
LOL!
I think I was more upset than Bill was!
y'know, without so much as typing a single word on FR, your daughter has already managed to make another FReeper just a LITTLE jealous.
(whatever you do, don't mention that in addition to being available, I did 4 years of cancer research and have my own network consulting business. intelligent motivated women with science backgrounds just HATE that sort of thing...)
ROFL!
I'll see if I can find two tickets to the SuperBowl for you two like minded freaks. I gotta tell you though, she thinks the Pats are better and will likely prevail.
;-)
Yeh right, Doc!
care to wager on it, proceeds go to the charity of the winner's choice?
I'll be glad to donate $100 of your money to the AHA or Children's Hospital when Owens plays on 2/6. ;)
so do I - after all, they ARE the champs until someone proves otherwise.
I happen to think the Eagles are very good at the things you need to do to beat the Patriots: i.e. put Brady on his ass, don't turn the ball over, and play well on special teams. whether that will pan out remains to be seen.
what I absolutely cannot get a handle on is HOW MUCH scoring there's going to be. rumor has it there's gonna be some sort of game next week to sort it all out. ;)
by the way, keep an eye on Ike Reese - I don't know how many plays this guy has to make before he gets national recognition. in fact, his teammates were so happy to see him FINALLY make the pro bowl, they nicknamed him hawaii five-eight.
I saw Norman and just assumed. My bad.
Eagles are going to win the Super Bowl.
Brian Westbrook is awesome as well.
The Eagles will have more than a handful to deal with on February 6th.
It ain't a gonna happen.
if the patriots were so naive as to believe this, they would most certainly lose. thankfully for you, they won't ignore the other, oh, 7 pro bowl players in green. how ironic.
1/25/1981 - Superbowl - Eagles lost.
1/7/2001 - Divisional Playoffs - Eagles lost.
1/27/2002 - NFC Championship - Eagles lost.
1/19/2003 - NFC Championship - Eagles lost
1/18/2004 - NFC Championship - Eagles lost
2/6/2005 - Superbowl - Eagles ????
what's your point? each year, 31 teams don't win the superbowl. is our society so dumbed down as to require a st. louis rams flash in the pan every year now? sheesh. idiots.
You're funny. I predict at least one serious injury to a Pat offensive skill player from a clean hit by the Eagles D. You crack me up. The theory of the Eagles D standing around while the "Dynasty" ply their trade. HAHAHAHA.
