ATL at PHI, Sat, 3:00 p.m. EST
NE at PIT, Sat, 6:30 p.m. EST
Both Holmgren and Brian Billick come from the Walsh coaching tree.
It was remarkable how much the crowd quieted down after that field goal. You'd have thought the Patriots had just scored.
Yes. I thought for sure we'd be looking at four straight running plays.
hindsight aside, cowher did the smart thing. with that much time left, you can count on at least 2 more possessions. if you're down by 10, your opopenent needs a TD to salt the game away that early. if you're down 14, a FG will do it.
the patriots are just really good. that's all there is to it. getting back INTO the game took a lot out of the steelers. it's hard to expend that kind of energy and still have something left.
if I remember correctly, you're the genius that told us how Atlanta was going to pound the Eagles, too.
when you wish upon a staaaaaarrrr....
Well, good grief. He ought to be praising the Eagles. They've got the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL.
You might have him confused with the Westbrook slackard that pretended to be a WR for the Redskins years ago.
nicely done!
I'm so deeply sorry that reality had to disappoint you. is the mcnabb-hatred a product of rush-love, idiocy, or both?
I thought the media had given that honor to Peyton (Cut that meat!) Manning?
well if they're disadvantaged, shouldn't the democrats make us all do something for them?
Au contraire..in an alternate universe the Iggles could go on top early, Brady could throw a couple of quick int's and the Pats could get thrown off their game plan.
Unfortunately for the Iggles, this game is being played in this universe.
Like you said...no prayer.
man, these people disappear so fast it's like they're HIDING or something...
are you talking about timmy? he's great - and has sung the anthem for the birds before. think of how terrifying that is, being surrouded by 60,000+ people, when you don't know what people even look like!
if you're not talking about timmy, then, um, nevermind. :)
Regardless, it was the best chance the Steelers had. I have perused Pats message boards and at the time Pats fans were nervous. Cowher blew it and the Pats fans didn't have to be nervous anymore.
there have been several occasions in the past decade where an underdog in a championship round didn't have a prayer - and then shoved it up everyone's nose.
the eagles can't win for losing with some people - it's unreal. it's like they have to indiscriminately hate everything their lord and master picks a fight with.
Well, not very bright for sure.
This all has been discussed by many who know football strategy better than I but the basic problem with this call is that it left the stillers down 2 scores...
and I mean big scores in that a TD and a FG still isn't going to tie. (unless you assume they could make a 2 pt conversions)
Way too many variables remaining with way too little clock left.
Parcell's only entree is Belichick though, and given how Belichick is eclipsing Tuna's achievements (especially Tuna's achievements with the other Bill at his side, which are none), I'm not sure he should be thought to have a tree.
Next year!
Personally I'd rather he didn't get the job. Though who knows havig a Belichick alumn in the same division could help the Steelers get over the lump.
