the Patriots win they will not be loved or respected

As long as New England is feared, being loved or respected is irrelevant.

I'm curious as to what Steelers fans think of Big Ben's two crappy performances in the playoff games. Seems like his mug was all over the TV (commercials) the past month or so. Do you think (1) he lost some of his focus with his new-found fame, or (2) was the thumb hurting more than the team would admit, or (3) were other factors (coaching) more to blame?

I think there's something in his hand, an infection or something torn, that Roeth was trying to hide. Desperately trying not to let his team down, he didn't see when it was time to say "Hey, coach, my hand isn't doing so hot, maybe you should bring in the back-up."

Think it could have adverse effects on the newly marketed Rothenburger?

Could be series.

Cowher was outcoached. He is not an elite coach...

I've never been impressed by him, especially his sticking with Cordell Stewart. But who are you going to replace him with? Belichick is in a class by himself.

Cowher needs to get the Grady Little treatment, otherwise the team will continue to be the lovable losing Steelers who were a dynasty in the 70's.

This team peaked early in the season and played terribly in it's last few games. They were very lucky to even make it to yesterdays game.

And has any QB, rookie or otherwise, beaten a Belichick coached team in the rematch? No. Nobody prepares better for the playoff than Belichick, and he had all the advantages in this game: a two time Superbowl MVP, the most complete team in the league, the best clutch kicker in the game who opened up scoring by tieing the distance record at Heinz field, and a team that's been there and done that. This is a game the Steelers shouldn't have won, and they didn't, heck at the beginning of the season this is a game the Steelers shouldn't have played in but they did. Firing a guy for exceeding expectations, but not exceeding them all the way, is silly. The bottomline is Cowher's a good coach with a good core of the team that's put them in a position to be even better next year, people shouldn't get fired for that.

You're showing your age!! :)
The sad part is that I had season tickets to the Giants when he was QB. Had them while they were playing in Yale Bowl, while they were building the Meadowlands.

I think I went to see them at Schafer Stadium with my dad. He grabbed me by the collar at half time and dragged me out. We never went back again. I guess the drunks urinating on each other was too much for him.

Cowher has gotten the Steelers to 17 playoff games. That's no small feat.

Grants? A dept store? I think you are talking about WT Grants which was really a glorified Woolworths. :)
I bought my first TV at Grants in Newport RI when I was in the service. Probably '72.

They had already tried a 4th and short and got stuffed. They were going to need to outscore the pats by 22 points. Taking a field goal was one way to make it happen.

It's always easy for us fans to think that we know better than the guys doing the jobs. no?

I still say the Steelers had the momentum to make a TD on the 4th down. You could feel it in the air. It woulda been worth it, to TRY. Now they will never know if they could've done it.

Give Belichek, Crennel and Weiss two weeks to prepare and they can beat just about any team. The Eagles don't have a running game like the Pats or really, like they used to with Staley. McNabb can be beaten if you keep him in the pocket and play with discipline, something a lot of teams just don't seem to be able to do. Yes, the Philly D is good but they can be run on and the Pats have that ability.

The Pats have the best coaching staff in the game. They have worked together for years under Parcells starting back in the 80's and have been doing it for over close to 20 years on and off. They beat a better Buffalo team in the 91 Super Bowl, they turned around a piss poor Jets team in two years, going to the AFC finals and then beat a very good Rams team in the 2002 SB.

What's Andy Reid done in his head coaching career besides gain weight?

They had the momentum to make that TD in the 3rd quarter. But the Pats regrouped in the TV time out. They made 2 yards in three plays to setup that 3rd and 2. I still think they should have gone for it, but I'd say they only had about a 1/3 chance of making it, the end result of blowing it is both teams lose one FG but the Pats probably still win.

I could care less about the stupid glove controversy. It is so overrated.
