President Bush was inaugurated for his second term as President of the United States. Nuff said. Enjoy your special inauguration day edition of the daily dose!
Oh, thus be it ever when free men shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation
Blessed with vict'ry and peace, may the heaven rescued land
Praise the Power that has made and preserved a fair nation
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just
And this be our motto, "In God Is Our Trust"
And the Star Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave
I hope I got all the words right; I'm writing from memory. I heard this for the first time back in 1976. We were living in Tallahassee while SSQ was in grad school. At that time, TV stations went off the air late at night, and always closed with the Star Spangled Banner. This rendition was ONLY the third verse, and it was sung by a woman playing an acoustic guitar, with another woman singing harmony on the last verse. Very affecting.
Actually the Bush girls dress very stylishly, especially Barbara. It's just that us old folks don't LIKE the style. :o)
They are marvelous texts, IMO, and should be learned by every American child.
Hey phancy, I uploaded your photos of President Bush and Laura and sent you an e-mail with the links so you can post them. Did you get it?
Shucks, not yet...maybe it will show up in a minute or two.
I'll let you know when I get it!
Oh, no. I sent that e-mail last night! I will freepmail you the links to the photos in just a sec.
OK!
So sorry to reply to this post after so long.....(we just spent all last week in New Orleans)......but this pic sure shows how "ashamed" Lynn is of Mary doesn't it? (Remember Lizzie Edwards stupid remark during the campaign?)I'm just as proud of the "Second" Family as I am the First Family.
