55th Inauguration And Day's Events - Live Thread
Thank you , How! Just watching our new Senator, Mel Martinez handling Crissy on MSNBC quite well - he'll be one to watch in the future.
beckyswab: I think a lot of them were calling C-Span, too.
Today will mark another milestone in our remarkable heritage.
We will, with a few minor exceptions... we will swear in the head of state without turmoil,
strife, revolution or civil war as we have done for more than 200 years.
A country and its people may be known and recognized for many things yet, "The United States
of America" is unique in that it is the only country in the world recognized primarily for an idea and not as much for some tangible attribute......geography, language, culture, etc..
America is recognized worldwide, imperfect as it may be, for its sustained goal of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Warts and all, America still shines bright as the beacon for a Democratic - Republic and rule By the People, For the People and of the People.
May God Bless us all.
The MediaCrats keep pushing the theme that this celebration is inappropriate
in light of the tsunami.
Well, let me ask you: Just how many tsunami stories have you seen on TV in the last week?
I can honestly say...NONE.
I thought it would take them at least a month to lose interest in the story.
They bailed out long before the public did.
Would someone please tell me how much of the cost of the
inauguration is paid by the tax payer and how much is from
private donation? I need the facts before I come down on
my Liberal friends. Having a get together Sunday and I know
they are ready to pounce.
I heard last night on Fox that this will cost $40 mil...only $3mil(for security) will be paid by taxpayers....I don't know if it is true or not.
The media and the left are really full of sour grapes durring this inauguration. I've never seen them so hateful.
Sore losers, lololololololololol
Teddy Roosevelt commissioned Augustus St. Gaudens to re-design the $20 gold piece in 1906. Roosevelt and St. Gaudens believed it was sacrilegious to use the word "God" on money because it could be used for gambling, or other immoral transactions.
The 1907, and early 1908 St. Gaudens double eagles are called "no motto." In God We Trust was added to the $20 gold coins later in 1908 due to public outcry.
Hey it least he was slightly more knowledgeable on that subject. Can't complain about the winner Knotty is a beautiful dog, but then I am partial to bloodhounds and bull terriers.
Lastly, I don't recall anyone on the right complaining about the cost of either of Clinton's bashes. Frankly, I've about had it with these Leftist whiners.
It's really not even worth your time arguing with them about the cost of the inauguration. They'll never give up their resentment.
Best to graciously say you're sure things were handled according to tradition. And that you're sure the same traditions will prevail IF and when they ever regain the White House.
Be sure to smile when you say "IF".
I think thats about right. Security has always been tight and security for democrat presidents has always been paid for by the taxpayers, too but of course the rats didn't complain about that. I for one don't begrudge one dime of money being spent to protect the President whether it be a Republican or a democrat. The DUmmies, of course, are wailing about how many social programs the money would have funded.
BREAKING NEWS - MSNBC somehow coaxed John McCain to appear on camera! Coming right up.
This is his second appearance in three hours on that dismal channel. He was quite ungenerous in his first appearance (IMUS).
LOL...I see you watched too...Im partial to Pugs... have three.
Amen! Good, GOOD people.
God has blessed us beyond measure! Thank You, Lord for this day........this answer to prayer unfolding before our eyes!!
She is genuinely lovely through and through.
Bump for later...
Any pics of the twins last night? I know G.W. and Laura looked great.
