I think running on 4th in that situation is the right thing to do. Kicking the FG is unnecessary, you give the opposing defense a chance to take the ball back and allow more time to come off the clock without putting more points on the board.

Uh oh... going for it on 4th down...the football gods may not like that... That's more courteous that kicking an easy three.
The Gods are soothed.

I don't think the football Gods are happy now.
To: discostu
True. I realize the error of my ways. :)

That game was over so fast I think the subs were playing in the first half.

I don't think the football Gods are happy now.You can't ask runners and blockers to lay down unless they are within the amont of time it takes to run off the clock.
(Plus...the Gods are obviously Falcons fans tonight...but they are famously fickle...oh yes they are)

What the heck is Martz doing? Taking timeouts down by 30 with less than a minute to go? ....and risking injury to his star QB?
Answer: Being Martz.

If the Broncos had been a better defensive team earlier in Elway's career he would have won more Super Bowls.

I feel a certain sympathy with the Jets kicker. They better put him on watch...in case he gets too depressed. Seriously, it must be a terrible position to be in, having fans blame YOU for your errors.I had the same thought. As someone experienced with these things, I hope the Jets organization has someone on call/staff to be of help as needed.
That turn of the game at the hands (foot?) of the kicker is oddly biblical.

That's more courteous that kicking an easy three. Agreed. Being allowed to defend a touchdown attempt is more befitting an NFL warrior. Not like those whimpy "free kicks".

Agreed. Congratulations to the Atlanta Falcons who are going tho the NFC Championships.
Well, as a Giants fan, whose team won the Super Bowl thanks to a bombed kick I ALWAYS sympathize for those who miss kicks.
To: CounterCounterCulture
Well the first game definetly made up for the lousy night cap.

Yep
Well g'night and I will give my (very low) opinion about Vick on another thread (next week I assume).

And my luck means I missed the tight game and watched the blowout. Oh well.
