You guys have come in rather late to the conversation. I'm not going to explain it again, so if you want to understand, go to the beginning

Ok. I admit I jumped in the middle. I have now gone back and read the entire thread, and I recind my comment to Meek in #219.

Feel free to inject that into any other Bush-haters.

It's not that we've made 'progress'. I'm very conservative, just that it seems some people have started in the middle or the beginning of the conversation and keep attacking like mindless mutts without reading anything further, where I had to explain I know Clinton was president during the Cole incident, and so on.

As a matter of fact, the reason the Cole stays in my head is because about 2 months after the explosion, democRATs were trying to keep votes from counting in Florida, votes from members of the U.S.S. Cole. So I know who was president back then, it's not easy to forget Bubba the Impeached and those who tried to keep our military members from voting.

Now, all we have to do is confiscate Saudia's oilfields!!!

I think that China, Europe and Russia would have a lot to say about that since we are already sitting in Iraq one of the other top producers of oil in the world. There is a good reason they do not want us in Iraq and they will have a lot to say if we try and clean out other areas in that part of the world if it has a speck of oil in the ground. I doubt they would say much about cleaning out Syria but boy if we take a step into Iran it could start others on the march.

This part of the world has not been touched by the worlds powers because it would start WWIII, but it only hangs on very thin thread for one to start, say messing around with the price of oil to much and thus destroying an economy or two.

At some point it will be worth the gamble for one of these powers or the need will dictate their taking over one of the oil rich countries, but as of yet they have been able to hold off.

When our troops were dying while those filthy terrorist rats were hiding in their 'holy' cemetery. Bush should have ordered the place leveled completely.

Why are you stopping there? Why aren't you advocating that we turn Falloujah into a parking lot? Are you that wise in international diplomacy to know that we are trying to win the support of the people in order to establish a democracy. You don't do that in the manner in which you describe. Oh, BTW, that cemetery as well as most of the mosques were destroyed in the course of the operation. War is far more complex than you understand.

Remember, according to the Europeans, the U.S. military aren't even there. They don't want to give our soldiers credit.

Right now the survivors need water, next food. There is very little time to spend asking the survivors what they need. It's on the next village, and the next, delivering the basics.

LOL!! GHWB got elected for only four reasons:

He followed Ron

Dukakis took a tank ride

Dan Rather got crushed by him

GHWB derided Mikey as a card-carrying member of the ACLU.

I miss Lee Atwater.

I was a soldier for 4 years, probably more then most of you here will ever know about the military and I joined when Desert Shield was under way and got to Panama the day Desert Storm started, so I didn't join when it was safe to be a solider. But to temper my self, I never saw conflict, so I'm not as brave as those who are over there in Iraq and Afghanistan right now.

As for politics, I don't think I could ever be one, I don't like backroom dealings and compromising. I guess that's why there are no clear cut leaders like Patton that just stand out and make you want to follow them.

Bush has done far better then Kerry would ever have done.

I guess that you are referring to Bill Clinton. Other than the border issue I don;t see where you have a leg to stand on. BTW we are a military family and believe that George Bush is a great CIC.

Sorry. It was a bit confusing to me, too. When I said, "We made progress.", I wasn't taking a shot at you. I was just saying that the conversation is moving toward something a little more substantial. You know - we're hashing out the specifics.

Also, I wasn't suggesting that you weren't conservative. I've read some of your other posts. I know your a bit on the defensive right now, but I don't intend to take anymore personal shots at you. If I say something that sounds a bit 'off', please know that it's not an attack. Sometime the words just come out wrong.

Yes, I guess it was confusing, since I was talking about the Cole and blaming Bush for his 'free for all immigration policy' in the same paragraph, if I recall.

For your information the Cole is out of Norfolk, Va, not Florida. All military votes of Florida residents were in jeopardy.

I saw 10+ years as an Army officer. There are many more here and some you are engaging in discussions now who have even more time. Gauge yourself.

I guess that's why there are no clear cut leaders like Patton that just stand out and make you want to follow them.

Patton, for all his excellent military tactics, was a prima donna. It takes far more to lead this nation and world. President Bush has clearly defined our country's goals in the WOT far better than a generation. Its easy to armchair quarterback. Dig in and know him better before you diss him.

Some of the folk on the Cole were from Florida, or did you think they all come from Virginia?
