I don't see what the big deal is - especially if the Bush Twins requested he perform. I'm assuming whatever "ball" he would've performed at will consist mostly of young people and the President would only make a brief appearance.

Who was the Reagan Administration Interior Secy who canceled the Beach Boys from the July 4th concert? James Watt? Seems like another round of that silliness.

I just wanted to point out to everyone that this was the YOUTH concert. I have no problem with KR, but he isn't singing to a bunch of soldiers - he's singing to teens. The appropriateness of him singing at an inauguration for teens ( regardless of how far he strips it down) is a valid question. KR is a gritty man who has gritty lyrics. If this was the soldiers ball I would have no problem with it, but I think those bible thumping squares might have a point when they question him headlining a teen ball.

"Lonely Road of Faith" by Kid Rock

(Kid Rock is singing this song TO GOD, about God, and about his faith IN Him)

Up and down that lonely road of faith
I have been there
Unprepared for the storms and the tides that rise
I've realized one thing, how much I love you
And it hurts to see, see you cryin'
I believe we can make it through the winds of change

God is great indeed
If you believe, in the everlife
Yeah we gotta
Make some sense of the piece that's not defined
And if you just hold on, I wont let ya fall
We can make it through the storms and the winds of change

Though I walk through the valley of darkness
I am not afraid
Cause I know I'm not alone

And if the wind blows east, would you follow me
And if the wind blows north, would ya stay your course
And if the wind blows west, would ya second guess
And if it blows to the south, would you count me out
And if the sun don't shine, would you still be mine
And if the sky turns grey, would you walk away
Would you say I do, if I say I'll be
And walk this road through life with me
You know I love youuuuuu

On this lonely road of faith
On this lonely road of faith

*********************************

Our brave men and women in the military, almost TO A SOLDIER, if not TO a soldier, absolutely LOVE The Kid--and it goes MUCH deeper than The Kid "speaking to their *generation*."

What do you all think about our BRAVE AMERICAN MILITARY, (the great Americans that bravely and tirelessly protect US AMERICANS DAY AND NIGHT,) as far as THEIR INTELLIGENCE, GROUNDEDNESS, JUDGEMENT, INTEGRITY, DECENCY, and MORALS are concerned that they, IN FACT, LOVE Kid Rock--THE PERSON, his songs, him singing his songs to them--THE WHOLE PACKAGE?

He has performed to OVERWHELMING APPLAUSE at the Kennedy Center, for Tommy Franks, to honor Colin Powell, and on numerous country music network TV awards shows, WITHOUT ANY OBJECTIONS--ONLY PRAISE.

Hank Williams, Jr. also loves The Kid, and sings with him on Kid Rock's CDs.

Bring in Slayer or some heavy band... just to piss off the so called "moral" or "pro family".

I would say were not bring in Kid Rock instead we will bring in Slayer see how those "moral" people react.

Seems a little unfair. There was no problem hosting that other vulgar, inbred, hypoglycemic, lecherous hillbilly (Bill Clinton)alongside Bush a few days back. Has the Kid ever actually raped anyone? [irony alert]

I have NEVER in all my life seen such histrionics. Our awesome, brave, honest, focused, hard-working, INTELLIGENT, grounded, DECENT, selfless, highly-trained, GOD FEARING AND LOVING, dedicated, giving, good-hearted, moralled, respectful, fearless, do-what's-right-when-no-one's-looking, humble, PROUD, HONORABLE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY (who put their lives on THE line that we and ours are FREE and protected,)ABSOLUTELY LOVE KID ROCK--*THE MAN*, his music, and him SINGING HIS music TO THEM. ONE AND ALL of our soldiers--THIS IS FACT--BOTH MEN AND WOMEN. IF YOU HAD A CLUE ABOUT OUR SOLDIERS, YOU'D KNOW THIS--and it goes FAR deeper than Kid "speaking to their *generation*. LOL. Don't take MY word for God's sake. Ask THEM, if you can find a moment to break from the absolute hysteria and petty name-calling. I have never seen such SCARY, sophomoric name-calling and HATE-spew.

IT LOOKS LIKE THE WHOLE US MILITARY (great minds, souls, attitudes and hearts,) ARE ALL GOING STRAIGHT TO HELL given the parameters of the finger-pointers. It's so sad that our soldiers and those who love Kid Rock are judged as "morally deprived." It makes me want to HURL. And I could care LESS if I'm flamed all the way into next week. Got it?

Oh, and I was going to keep this out of it, as it REALLY should make no difference in ANY respect--and I value my privacy--but I feel the following may cause thought, for I am not alone in my "type" of liking of Kid Rock--so this is a thumbnail sketch of "who I am:"

I'm the proud mother of two VERY decent, very BRIGHT, FOCUSED, LOVING college students who both attend VERY tough schools and regularly make Dean's List with Honors who never say boo about it--one has to ask. They are HUMBLE, KIND, GENEROUS, RESPECTFUL, WEEKLY CHURCH-GOING, involved Catholics of whom I sincerely can't remember ever having raised their voice to me, or to their loving and dearly loved father. I talk to them daily about what's going on with them and they are always cheerful to me and never give me The Bum's Rush. They are both in VERY tough programs at school, and are very adult-like, responsible, and self-focused in their college life and in their perceived careers beyond. They have very strong work and study ethics. They are both BROKEN GLASS CONSERATIVE PUBBIES who have spread far and wide the good conservative word (just like their momma.) I am so VERY proud of the FINE YOUNG WOMAN AND MAN with which my husband and I have been SO blessed by God. I thank Him every day for my wonderful children. And as they are so loving to me and my husband, and I am as well to MY parents. I HONOR them, and they love me with all their heart. I come from an upper middle-class family whose father and many other close relatives are decorated naval fighter jet aviators. My siblings and I spent many a weekend at a naval air base when we were young because my dad was also an AWESOME Weekend Warrior--a true leader among his peers. He was in Neil Armstrong's flight squadron--a very respected squadron--good men. I had a very good upbringing--filled with love, respect, a very good education, a love of God and His great nature--much of it seen through traveling all points of His Great Earth. I was so very fortunate, and thank God and my great parents often. I pray hard like many of you, I always try to do the right and kind thing, I have strong moral beliefs, and I love My President, my country, and my fellow citizens. We are ALL different--God's intent. We are all unique. We want to be GOOD people. I LOVE to play the piano and violin, and I play SOLELY CLASSICAL music by all of the Old Masters. I love a good challenge by a difficult piece (sometimes MANY flubs,) and use Condi as my (unatainable) role model. She plays like heaven. I've been playing for eons, but am nowhere near what beutiful sounds are heard coming her brilliant and nimble, gifted mind and fingers. I love the violin, I love to PLAY the violin (not the fiddle.) Those two instruments are how I am personally musically inclined. I love to play them both. I am FAR from a liberal--I held an elected political office in a conservative area, with me being probably THE most conservative amongst my peers. It was loosely the equivilant of an Aldermanic position. I sadly had to give it up for a move from the area. I love to ski and golf a little more than play the piano. Being out in nature all day long enjoying what He made for us is how I feel close to God--I see so clearly His beauty in nature. Laugh if you will, again I could care less. OK, I'm done with my rant on not being some's "typical, stereotypical Kid Rock fan. So sue me. My son rolls his eyes that I love The Kid, and my daughter fully understands, and likes him too--although not nearly as much as I do. And BTW, my musical interests are wide and varied. I go to the opera and most gallery exhibits that come to town. I can't stand Eminen or goth types, or much heavy metal. I can, and like to laugh at myself. I am an average, well-brought up (thanks mom and dad,) educated, non-gossippy, loyal, friend-thankful, polite and respectul (I always try and keep it uppermost, as I was taught and know to be right and good,) everywoman. That's all. I don't care what anyone thinks about me one way or the other. I am ME. I am a CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN. And I can think for myself and the PC Patrol can keep on walking....

What is the big deal? Anybody appalled by this should leave for the opera. It is politics, KR appeals to teens. KR is one of the cleaner rappers of today people need to get over themselves. It is the ones that -act- holier than thou art that scare me.
