He didn't exactly say that Freepers were first, just the Freepers were saying they were first.Yes he did, he said that "FreeRepublic.com was reporting on the discrepencies in the memos within minutes of the ending of 60 Minutes".
Not hours like Powerline or Little Green Footballs, but minutes.

I believe I understand why Hinderaker didn't give FR the credit yesterday. Bear with me for a moment here...
Personally, I'm not real good at "thinking on my feet". When I'm going into a high-profile situation, I spend a lot of time planning out what I am going to say and do in advance. Just the way I am.
Now John Hinderacker is a lawyer, and is probably better at tapdancing than I am, but let's keep in mind that he was invited on Fox to give his impression of the CBS independent report, not to rehash the outing of the fake documents.
Obviously, he gave an excellent report and analysis on the CBS report, but I think he was caught off guard when Brit opened with:
"Early word that something might be wrong with that 60 Minutes report came not from the mainstream media, nor Republican politicians, nor even the White House. It came from a website called the Power Line Blog."
If I had been in that situation, I would have blanked out and launched into my prepared speech just like Hinderacker did.
So the truth is out now, and everybody is happy. Let's give the guy a break. He and Brit both are on our side.
Like Ronald Reagan said, "It's amazing how much you can get done if you don't care about who gets the credit."

Hey! Maybe we can make Brit an "honorary" member of the Pajama Patrol, and send him one of the badges. I am very glad that he responded to this and gave credit where credit is due. He's a good guy!

We broke Bush in Baghdad also...FR was the first place I found out Saddam had been plucked from his spider hole. I also remember the "Bush in Baghdad" thread. At first it was a secret (for obvious reasons) but we all found out what that secret was HOURS later. LOL

None of us could have predicted the kind of impact it would have on the direction of the war, or that it would become a kind of symbol." BS.

I might buy that reasoning if it had been the first time he "forgot" to mention FR; it wasn't.

Yep for a few dollars or one house call the Doc can get him a new keyboard that will eliminate the random CAPS Generator from activating.....
Who was the poster that used to do that so much?.. I can't remember who it was....

I am suppose to believe that Bill Clinton did know about what was going to happen to this country while he fiddled when a Freeper can figure it out without any secret information? What a crock.

Well, maybe you're right, but if you will re-read the
transcript of the interview, you will find that it was
Brit who forgot to mention FR, not Hinderaker.
And Brit just corrected his oversight.
Maybe Hinderaker should have corrected him, but hey..."Hind"sight (pun intended) is 20-20.

Yes, some of us wrote to him about that little omission last night, and Howlin sent him the whole thread this morning! Good for Brit, now if Powerline would just step up... WOO HOO! Thank you Brit, FReepers who sent e-mails, and Howlin for sending the thread to Brit.
Darn, I just got home around 7pm and missed Special Report... I'll catch the re-airing of Special Report at midnight ET.

Well, to be fair, it is kind of difficult to prove we were first. The internet is a big place.
Time and date stamps man, time and date stamps - that, and the fact that the important threads are kept around forever ...
