Forecast on the Iraq Unpleasantness (ZOT!!! Revised forecast, dangerous electrical storms.)
Posted on 01/10/2005 7:48:02 AM PST by Donald Bass
This Week began with Steph interviewing Colin Powell, who is in Kenya for the signing of a Sudanese peace treaty. Powell is still dealing with the diplomatic details of rushing aid to the tsunami-battered Southeast Asian region. Predictably, he said US relief officials on the ground are doing a great job, but refused to guess what the final death toll will be -- though he did admit a final accurate estimate may be impossible.
The pleassantries ended when George turned to supposed coming Iraqi elections, including a prediction by one Iraqi official of "incipient civil war" along ethnic lines following the election. Powell started railing against insurgents as if they were in fact a unified "tairist" front -- ignoring the issue of a potential civil war between rival ethnic insurgent factions. George steered Powell back to saying that Sunnis must have a stake in the next Iraqi government, and he hopes to see a government that is freely elected, gives all ethnicities a voice, and establishes a solid police force/army. Zbigniew Brzezinski says 500,000 troops and $200 BILLION would be the minimum needed for success, and, assuming the position of dutiful Bush buttswab, Powell called Zbig a "naysayer" and began talking about drawing down forces.
Steph stepped up the heat, mentioning the TIME article about the Pentagon mulling a dirty war. Powell quickly said that he is not familiar with what the Pentagon is up to. Talk about an understatement.

We've talked in so many different locations, I had to go back to the origional post to straighten out which line of banter this was on.
The asphalt death was in the real world, not cyber city.
It was the driver and not a malcontent or an innocent.

I assumed it was real world. But what happened? Within the bounds of what you can tell of course.

You bet! When I was in college, MASH was in it's heyday of syndication. I watched it about 3-4 times a day, learned every episode by heart.

I need to get em too. With the exception of HotLips becoming a such a feminist toward the end (which was unheard of during the Korean War) the show was great.

Great pics on your page, Laura.
I'm trying to find one or two of my gang to post, but my better half is funny about me posting family pictures.

I had a problem with the dream sequences, but other than that, the show was probably the reason my mind works like it does now.
Hmmm, is that a good thing?...Yeah...
