The combined governmental tax rate is 57%. Our family gross income is $55,000. Subtract the tax rate (-$23,650), and we're left with a net income of $31,350.

That's a joke right ? Please tell me you have a source for that.

Although my original math was in error, the tax rate itself isn't a joke.

No, I don't have a source, even though I've been trying to find the thread that did have it, (I think it was in the last 3 months, so I'm still looking)

Other posters may disagree, but that thread wasn't the first time I'd seen that particular percentage rate - the middle class taxpayer is getting royally screwed.
