A 50-year-old nanny has been charged with child endangerment after she was caught on a nursery Web cam hitting and shaking the infant she was supposed to be caring for, cops said yesterday.Fook Moy of Elmhurst, Queens, was arrested after the 6-month-old's horrified mother watched Moy banging the child up and down on the floor, then placing a pillow over his head while smacking the pillow and yelling, "Stop crying! Stop crying!" cops said.
The parents, who live in Roslyn Harbor, L.I., told cops they hired Moy on Jan. 2 to cover while their regular nanny went on vacation.
Two days later, the parents found bruises on their baby's face and decided to watch the camera, which they had installed to keep track of their child's growth.

The death penalty is too good for some people- child abusers and child sex abusers. Torture first and then we hang them.
I'm very pro-stay-at-home mom. Having said that, having only one income families all across the U.S. would have to have an impact on our economy. Not as much money to spend to buy 'stuff' you know.
That might be a good thing though. Would keep the prices of housing and cars and such down a bit.

Who CAN afford to have kids? We have 7, 5 in Catholic school and we can't afford to get out of bed in the morning. But somehow we do it! They're worth every struggle, every pinched penny and I haven't missed going to the Caribean, fur coats or having a mercedes.
Last year we paid $0 in Federal taxes.
Our secret- 7 kids including one who is adopted. We wrote off all the adoption expenses. This year will be a different story I'm afraid.
Although my original math was in error, the tax rate itself isn't a joke.
No, I don't have a source, even though I've been trying to find the thread that did have it, (I think it was in the last 3 months, so I'm still looking)
Other posters may disagree, but that thread wasn't the first time I'd seen that particular percentage rate - the middle class taxpayer is getting royally screwed.
I'm sick reading your comment. I can't imagine leaving an infant like that - or any child who doesn't talk and wouldn't be able to report their experiences.
The first day I brought my daughter to pre-school I thought she would grab onto me and not let go. Instead she took one look at the place, said to me "Oh wow - children" and went running into the playroom. An hour later when I came back she tried to push me out the door and said "go away". I was crushed.
I live on Long Island and it's virtually IMPOSSIBLE for one income family to exist unless husband is a millionaire.

There were seven sons in my family and it had those same "savings." Seriously though congratulations on all and at least we know yawl ain't wasting money.

They just bought it, I think for around $600,000.
As for Webcam, I just got one because of my new baby (12/17/04). We use it when we talk to my parents, who live a few hundred miles away, so they can see pictures of the baby...
I know. Those poor infants and their tiny ears. If you were a parent of one of those babies, you'd probably never even think to ask about anyone vacuuming while the babies were in there, let alone, on the floor in bouncy chairs. Which is why, if you feel you absolutely must place your children in daycare, etc., then always plan to make surprise visits.
That is not the case here. These are affluent people who chose to let someone else take care of their child.
Exceptions do not make the rules.

I could accept welfare for a limited time for a single parent suddenly without resources and without a spouse to help with the raising...the multi-gen welfare stories are another concern. That single parent should not have to work or at least have limited work when her children are tiny and in their formative period of growth School for a trade or career should also be provided if the level of education is lacking. Then, kick the parent off the welfare rolls.
Who is suppose to be caring for the child while the mother (or father) is attending school or training? I did the school thing, 2 1/2 years...and earned 4 certificates. I still had to put the kids in day care.
Some people make me feel like I am a monster, because I have to work to provide for my kids and that means I have to put them in day care!
I wasn't speaking to the DAY care issue so much as I was to the Welfare issue. Day Care is a necessary issue for some...but when children are 0 to 4 years of age, perhaps a little more slack should be given for single moms until her children are kindergarten age if the Mom just wants to stay home with the kids!
So move.
