Blog-GateYes, CBS screwed up badly in ‘Memogate’ — but so did those who covered the affair

Corey should use his Style Book. Arrogance can't be passed off as Argumentation.

If there were no Free Republic, there would have been no Buckhead; if there had been no Buckhead, there would be no CBS crawling on its knees to the White House begging for another chance to be "fair and balanced."

We know that the Left never rests. Neither should we. We should not have to beg for money to maintain freedom's outer perimeter.

We don't "donate" to freedom's defense; every dollar we give to support Free Republic is really a payment for services rendered. b.

This proves nothing — you could make a replica of almost any document using Word. Yet Newcomer’s aggressive conclusion is based on this logical error.

Yes, but can you make a replica of almost any document using the DEFAULT SETTNINGS of Word? Only if that document was authored in Microsoft Word, which the memo obviously was.

Actually, even WordPerfect documents are distinguishable from Word documents even with ostensibly the same settings.

Well, we know liberal habits are alive and well. If you don't like the historical truth, work hard at rewriting it. Eventually, Dan Rather will be hailed as a journalistic hero, cut down in his noble prime by a lunatic mob of angry FReepers and bloggers carrying pitchforks. Such is the result when plain, clear truth is given equal status with baseless assertion and elitist misdirection.

[Drudge] won't link us anymore

Why is that? I honestly have wondered why that is.

It's so tiring educating the liberals. Maybe I'll send a bill to CJR for services rendered...

This snot-nosed kid is hardly worth our time. What actually motivates the little $hit might be an interesting discussion. Was this piece of tripe designed to impress his superiors?

It's hard to believe anyone, even an addle-brained recent product of our pulik and journalistic skools, could actually believe this brainless spew.

Once again this proves you can never let up fighting the liberals - because they never give in.

This is SOP liberal procedure (see Hiss Case for another example). Whenever they don't like the truth - lie, muddy the waters, and spread innuendo and doubt. For 50 years they proclaimed Hiss was innocent and never gave up until VERONA proved them 100% wrong. They constantly say the Clinton impeachment was "just about sex", or that Reagan knew and approved Iran Contra. And of course the swiftboats were "all Republican Operatives and lying liars who lie."

I could go but the examples are endless. This is the just the first shot in their effort to rewrite the truth.

The writer is a Pein in the butt. A liberal crank. I went to his website and found the RAT's required slap at Bill Bennett.
So, I sent him this message:

I saw this on your website: Only if you believe that Bill Bennett defines "moral values."

I have never understood this attack on Bennett. Please explain why you see moral turpitude when a person bets money that he can afford, without hurting his family? Is all gambling wrong, in your opinion?. Or is it wrong when another person bets more than you have in your bank account? Please explain your standards.

My understanding of the "sinfulness" of gambling is that it is wrong when you bet what you can't afford; when you put yourself, your family and others in financial peril.
Bennett didn't put his family in jeopardy. He just liked betting large amounts of the large amounts he earned from his own labors.

I guess the big question I'd like to put to his critics is (two): What business is it of yours? And, why are you counting another person's money?

You are absolutely right. And McCarthy didn't root out Commies at the State Dept. either, right?
Liberal fiction masquerading as history.
Anita Hill is another example. After Arlen Spector (a lousy Republican but a great cross-examiner) destroyed her on the stand with her own lies, less than a quarter of the American people polled believed her. After a year of positive press and press beatings of Simpson and Spector, almost 75 percent believed her. Those two morons even apologized for their treatment of the politically motivated liar.

As mainstream media critics of CBS piled on, rumors shaped the news and conventions of sourcing and skepticism fell by the wayside. Dan Rather is not alone on this one; respected journalists made mistakes all around.

I got to this paragraph, scrolled up to see exactly what kind of lib/idjit wrote... no, "fabricated", this piece of tripe, saw "Columbia School of Journalism" and quit reading after that.

All we need is more know nothing, brain dead, lib/socialist apologists spewing more of the DNC/MSM Kool-aid.

Yeah, right.

"Do not fear the enemy, for your enemy can only take your life. It is far better that you fear the media, for they will steal your HONOR. That awful power, the public opinion of a nation, is created in America by a horde of ignorant, self-complacent simpletons who failed at ditching and shoe making and fetched up in journalism on their way to the poor house."
-- Mark Twain

Seems like nothing's changed much since Sam's time. And he certainly held a much higher opinion of them than I do!

Thanks for bringing that up.

No doubt if Thomas if nominated for chief justice, the old liberal lies will be repeated.

If OJ Simpson had been a darling of liberals, his "innocence" would -today -be an established MSM Factoid. And anyone thinking different would be labeled a "racist right-wing kook". There ability to rewrite history should never to underestimated.

Why the lengthy verbiage? Pein could have saved himself the trouble by instead simply publishing a PHOTO of himself fellating Dan Rather.
