Worthiness has nothing to do with it. Salvation is a free gift offered to ALL. Some will chose to accept it, and others will choose to reject it. Those that accept it are no more worthy than those that reject it. Just like a parent, he loves all of His children... even the ones that He knows will rebel and reject Him. He loves them enough to let them go if they so choose instead of forcing them to be with Him. He loves us enough to give us our own free will even though He has seen what we will do with it. He did not create us to be automatons.
But you said God knows who will acept it thereby making them one of the elect. That sure sounds like they were saved based on their own actions, not by grace. It sure sounds like some are doing something that God favors, while others are not.
Chapter, verse?
Why does one man "accept" God's "offer" of free grace and another "reject" His "offer?"
There must be some difference in the two people if they choose differently by their own free will, according to your logic. Is the one who chooses well more pious, more intelligent, more devout, better read, more spiritual, more jovial, cleaner, quicker-witted, richer, more connected, right-handed???
No. Like Lazarus, every man is fallen and dead in sin, incapable of reviving in any way, unless and until God's regenerating hand rebirths his cold, stone heart.
Salvation is entirely God's call. Our job is to fall to our knees in gratitude for His gracious gift of Christ's redemptive sacrifice, and to live a life that glorifies His name.
Can you just answer this: the "accepting" that determines whether a man goes to Heaven or Hell -- where does that come from? From himself, or from God?
