" ... the same people came back and dragged the whole display down a hill in front of our house, destroying the manger. They also stole all of the figures from the scene this time."
Sounds like a "hate crime" to me, but somehow I suspect this incident won't be widely reported.

Democrat party "activists" attacking the Christian religion once again. These are the exact same vermin who tore down and trashed "Bush/Cheney" posters, keyed cars with "Bush/Cheney" bumper stickers, etc.

Any other religion, and this would have the MSM howling "hate crime", but since it is Christianity, liberals just shrug.

The yard had many other decorations, including a Santa Claus figure and gingerbread men, Vollmar said. "Because nothing else in the yard was touched, we think it was somehow religiously motivated..."Of course it's a hate crime. They hate God, and so they destroyed the public declaration of His incarnation.
Notice they left Santa Claus and the gingerbread men alone...

If they put the manger scene up next year, and I hope they do, I hope they also install a surveillance camera. A Neighborhood Watch group to help out would also be a good thing. You can't watch all the time by yourself.

This happens somewhere every Christmas. More than likely some punk kids with no respect for anothers property .

Obviously, the real crime was putting up the nativity scene. These freedom fighters were just saving other people from these hate-mongers trying to push their religion down people's throats.....

This illustrates the problem with "hate crime" laws. They are never enforced against true hate crime like the the anti-Christian violence so common now in the US, and encouraged/enabled by the democrat political party.

Sad how MSM didn't pick it up. I called a friend of mine in San Diego to ask if she heard about it on her local news and she said no.
The newspaper listed in this post is in the northern part of San Diego County.

I suppose it would be a bad idea to booby-trap the Manger scene next year???

On a recent evening, Mr. Adler and I were driving his mom and aunt around town to see the Christmas decs. One thing we saw which might be a good idea for those who put up a nativity scene in their yards was a creche with a plexiglass front on it. The figures (just Mary, Jesus, and Joseph) were enclosed.
Of course, someone could still take an axe to the whole thing or shoot at it, I suppose, but a plexiglass cover would prevent stealing of the figures and casual vandalism. The crech would have to be designed to accommodate a plastic front. Also, it would only work for small nativity scenes with just a few figures. In some cases, this would be quite a good idea, IMHO.
