ESCONDIDO, CA ---- The Vollmar family's nativity scene was destroyed by vandals on Wednesday night at the family's home on West 11th Street, Jan Vollmar said.
The family puts up the scene every year as part of a larger Christmas display in their front yard, Vollmar said. The destruction of the scene began on Christmas night when one of three wise men was smashed in the street.
"After the first incident on Christmas, we had neighbors approach us and say that they hoped we wouldn't let the destruction make us take down our display," Vollmar said on Friday. "But two nights ago, the same people came back and dragged the whole display down a hill in front of our house, destroying the manger. They also stole all of the figures from the scene this time."
The yard had many other decorations, including a Santa Claus figure and gingerbread men, Vollmar said.
"Because nothing else in the yard was touched, we think it was somehow religiously motivated," Vollmar said. "We don't know who did it, but we are going to put up the display again next year after we go and buy new figurines."
After consulting for a couple of days, Jan and her husband Tom Vollmar decided to call the police on Friday. The couple would like anyone with information on the incident to contact the police.
I am not trying to minimise this I am trying to state the obvious, I dont believe there is a national conspiracy out there of people out to vandalise nativity scenes.
Punks have been stealing the Christ child from nativity scenes for years I think there was a movie about it made in the 30's . It always happens somewhere in the US every Christmas.
The stories of how liberals are trying to take Christ from Christmas this year have magnified the ravings and increased the panic in this post, but I would bet when they find who did this it was some punk kid in the neighborhood. In fact I would bet everyone in that neighborhood has a name in mind of who would do such a thing. Neighborhoods seem to know who the punks are.
A surveillance camera is a great idea. So is a baseball bat, and a can of mace.
This illustrates the problem with "hate crime" laws. They are never enforced against true hate crime like the the anti-Christian violence so common now in the US, and encouraged/enabled by the democrat political party.
The anti-Christmas forces are testing their mettle.
Sad how MSM didn't pick it up. I called a friend of mine in San Diego to ask if she heard about it on her local news and she said no.
The newspaper listed in this post is in the northern part of San Diego County.
Did you notice how they targeted the house with the Nativity Scene and not the one with the candy canes and Santa out front?
Dust for fingerprints.
Again,
they targeted the house with baby Jesus, not the one with Santa and his reindeer.
I suppose it would be a bad idea to booby-trap the Manger scene next year???
Well you're certainly entitled to your opinion...
But if I had to guess, I'd say this fits right in with the radical "gay" agenda.
It's called the ACLU.
Do agree--Only way to respond is with equal or overwhelming
force. Then --and only then can the threat be dispatched
according to sop
Of course, someone could still take an axe to the whole thing or shoot at it, I suppose, but a plexiglass cover would prevent stealing of the figures and casual vandalism. The crech would have to be designed to accommodate a plastic front. Also, it would only work for small nativity scenes with just a few figures. In some cases, this would be quite a good idea, IMHO.
Thank you! Please do, but the credit goes to Cliff May of NRO.
