Carloads of Muslim New Yorkers, all U.S. citizens, were detained for hours by federal agents after they returned from an Islamic convention held in Toronto over the weekend. A Pace University student said she was asked by a border patrol officer at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge crossing whether the wire in her bra was a weapon. A white Flushing resident said U.S. officials refused to tell her why she was being held for eight hours.
"It's just appalling," said Jean Tassi, 53. "If I didn't have on a head covering, I would have never been stopped."
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection official said agents acted on intelligence that conventioneers may have terrorists in their cars.
"We understand that most of these conferences are legitimate, but it is our duty, it is incumbent on us to verify the identity of everybody entering the U.S. - even citizens," said Kristi Clemens, a Washington spokeswoman. "I understand their frustration."
More than 30 people had attended "Reviving the Islamic Spirit" convention at the Skydome that was billed as a spiritually uplifting event.
"I refuse to be treated like this in my own country," said Miriam Soliman, 20, a Brooklyn-born finance major who said she was interrogated about her underwire bra.
I told you: McMurdo Station, in August, wearing shorts and flip-flops. It's not U.S. territory, so the same legal rules that apply at Guantánamo apply to McMurdo. :-)
You aren't a geek---but a moron!
Please try and answer the question that was put to you---or is it that being a Muslim, which i suspect, you refuse to crticise another Muslim.
As for my loyalty, I don't need some addle-pated jerk like yourself questioning it. If there are some in this nation thatwish to do this nation harm---I wish that it be dealt with. I have no fear that the Constitution is in danger, as any law that is passed must pass Constitional muster. Insofar as I have never proposed any amendments, your arguments hold no sway.
I have never agreed with the President on the issue of "Islam being a religion of peace" It has proven in recent history to be anything but.
You seem to enjoy quoting the "Holy Book of one of the three Monotheistic Religions" Strange that you should refer to Torah and Christian Old Testament that way.
No Jew or Christian does---your usage is very popular in the Moslem world.
I'm going to ask you again---do you condemn the attackers of 9/11--or not?
I have, I did, and I will.
Please try to answer this: Would you fire on American citizens resisting orders to report to detention centers?
Not all Muslims are terrorists, but all the terrorists we are confronting are Muslims and Islam is in itself a political theory and system every bit as un-American as NAZISM or Fascism. So we violated the First and Second Amendments in WW2??
Islam as a cultural and cultic entity IS at war with the west, regardless of what Bush pretends, and regardless of what governments walking a tightrope over a powderkeg, like Pakistan or Saudi Arabia or Egypt pretned to say.
"The reasoning of the un-American religious bigots"
WE'RE not the religious bigots - the MUSLIMS are. I have nothing against Judaism, Buddhims, Hinduism, Animism, Paganism, Zoroastrianism - whatevere floats your boat. But NONE of those religions are involved in a worldwide conspiracy to blow up people and overturn governments in an attempt to exterminate or force the conversion of non-believers, or inflict a religious theocracy on people who don't want it. MUSLIMS are.
"Please try to answer this: Would you fire on American citizens resisting orders to report to detention centers?"
If I were a soldier, I would use whatever force necessary to remove Muslims to detention centers, should the government so order it.
You toss around the word BIGOT quite freely too, especially when someone disagrees with you.
Then there are references to the Bible concerning laws for believers, said laws are ONLY followed by the strictest of Orthodox Jewish people, and even they do not stone people, or starve them, or flog them to death, ONLY Islam does in this day and age (Iran being the biggest culprit, now that we have destroyed the Taliban's hold on Afghanistan).
You consistently defend Islam while trying to classify Judaism and Christianity as morally equivalent accomplices to the crimes committed by Islamofascists adhering to the letter of the law laid out in the Koran, yet you want to act like the big conseervative champion of the people and protector of the Constitution.
You are a weasel with a sharp tongue who enjoys the anonymity of this forum to slander and lie and attempt to denigrate people who are merely expressing their opinions.
You have added nothing positive to the discussion, in fact it is not even close to the original topic anymore and is becoming and Islamofascist Apologist thread.
You are trying to wear down any and all opposition with your semi-literate, fairly confusing posts, and you are going to fail.
Average Americans, or those that try to destroy our country? (/sarc)
I had no problems with the Rosenbergs being executed....
Still you refuse to answer the simple question that I asked---Do you condemn the the 9/11 attackers?
You have not.
I believe that the only liberty you support is that which adheres to Sharia Law.
FD
He obviously has a fascination with the term that describes "self gratification" No doubt, Mr. Freud would be fascinated with examing him, as he uses it often.
He cannot even answer the question that I have posted to him---and a reasonable one.
He, as you have posted, calls those of whom who disagree with him a "bigot" and "Un-American". He livs in a foolish little world filled with delusions of grandeur.
His opinion, and his only, is the opinion that counts. No one can disagree with him.
He'd make a great mullah!
Prime example of how people will be all up at arms when they are the target, yet be perfectly fine applying the same to others. Let's see how the posters on this board would like their religious freedom taken away, to be deported because their beliefs are similar (in name, at least) with criminals. But it's fine to do to others!
Do unto others as you would...oh wait, nevermind...
I think there needs to be more finger-pointing at those criminals (who have used terroristic means to try to achieve their goals). Where was the outcry from the Christian community?
Don't think for a minute that such things couldn't be used as justifications to act against other groups in the future. Until someone can give clear guidelines as to when a government has the right to curtail unalienable rights and when it does not, then who decides the dividing line? I suppose we just have to trust Hillary and company, or do we think that the Republicans (who aren't always right, I hate to tell ya!) will always have control of the government so it's okay?
The fight is too important for that. We need strong Constitutional protections to remain.
Oops...Posted this in the wrong thread...should be ignored here. I need my coffee.
Not that anyone has accused me of being Muslim, but just for my own protection in case the crusades get out of hand...
*I condemn the 9/11 attackers, though if there's damnation it comes from God, and if there's a God, I believe these attackers chose poorly.
*I had a ham sandwich for lunch yesterday.
*I believe Israel has not only the right to exist, but the right to exist without the threat of idiots trying to kill off the Israeli people.
*I realize that I am a target of certain Muslims even without these statements, simply for being non-Muslim.
*I realize that a Muslim could make similar statements and lie about his beliefs to evade suspicion.
*I love our Constitution and the rights it protects, even if I don't always agree with those who are protected or the things they say or believe.
Now, don't you all feel so much safer? :-(
Glad to see the coffee perked you up a bit...
It's not going to protect you one bit, Gondring; the bigots are fond of alleging that Muslims lie all the time. Therefore, any protestations of "condeming" the 9/11 terrorists are worthless. ('Cause, clearly, if you defend religious freedom you must be Muslim.)
You see, you believe in freedom for everyone, Gondring, something that these anti-Americans don't. They hate that - they only want freedom for people just like them and everyone else is to be enslaved and subservient to their will.
Thanks! :-)
