The ships with Expeditionary Group 5, including the amphibious ships Rushmore, Bonhomme Richard, and Duluth, the guided missile cruiser Bunker Hill, guided missile destroyer Milius and guided missile frigate Thach.
The strike group will provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to the governments of Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand and other affected nations, according to the Navy.
The Navy is also sending the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group, according to the Seventh Fleet.
P-3C Orion surveillance aircraft have also been sent to Thailand, where they will conduct search and resuce operations.

This was announced within 24 hrs of the event, but has not been reported. The MSM is playing games with facts. I'm shocked.
It is possible they just got into the hardest hit areas?
The $35 million only includes actual cash transfers.
The US could provide $30 million in food, $20 million in clothes, and incur $10 million in logistical expense to deliver said relief and the UN would put the US contribution at ZERO.
I'm sure the ships have just gotten there, but the aircraft like the P3s probobly were there within hours. We also were going to send in C-130s based on a prior report. I suspect they are there with supplies already, but have heard zero. They just want to blame W.
??!! Where's my baby, the USS Peleliu???
Here's where to find the gators.

SWEEEET! That's a great link! Thanks.
If someone knows what M/V is [ship type], please post. These ships will carry stuff the folks really need -- as opposed to F18's.

This is from a US Government site...
But the M/V's must have provisions/medical supplies.
US Navy can do underway replenishment... Mastered that in World War II.
God Speed!
Isn't the Bonhomme Richard the ship that moron Weapons Tech
the media and Left tried to make into a martyr last week was assigned to?
The irony is just too rich!
Though I'm sure the Marines of that MAU will up to their elbows in it.
God bless and watch after them all.
Jack.
M/V stands for motor vessel. The TAK designation is for a cargo ship. These are normaly civilian ships that the government can use as necessary. The USNS is United States Naval Ship which is a ship that operates for the navy but has a civilian crew.

That's correct.
San Diego Based Navy Strike

Fun with punctuation...
PLUS .. THESE SHIPS CAN PRODUCE FRESH WATER FROM SALT WATER. Hundreds of thousands of gallons per day.
But .. we're so stingy I doubt we'll let anybody on land have any .. [I don't need a tag for that do I?]
The really important ships are below:

M/V stands for "Motor Vessel" (as opposed to S/S for "Steam Ship"). These are Maritime Prepositioning Ships.
President Bush announced on TV the other day that the Maritime Prepositioning Squadron ships based in Guam would be used in the relief effort. It's extremely strange that since then, not one MSM media (TV, Print, internet) actually quoted President Bush verbatim with regards to the Guam-based MPS.
These ships can be checked out on the Military Sealift Command website.
It's because we are doing it ourselves rather than give the UN the $$ to squander. W should tell the UN to finally shove it.
